Scuba diving has always been about more than exploration, sometimes it is about rediscovering history itself. Bermuda’s BUEI is hosting a special screening of Black Godfather of Scuba, a powerful documentary celebrating Dr Albert “Doc” Jones and the legacy he left beneath the surface.

The event includes a live Q&A with the director and highlights how diving connects culture, heritage, and storytelling. If you care about the roots of our sport and the people who shaped it, this is a story worth reading.

Baby Boom Alert: Fun Facts About Lionfish Reproduction! 🦁🐟👶💥

These invasive super-moms (and dads) are basically the ocean’s ultimate overachievers when it comes to making babies! 😆

1. Party All Year Round: Unlike most fish who spawn once a year like “meh, whenever,” lionfish get frisky YEAR-ROUND. No holidays off! 🎉

2. Egg Explosion: One female can drop up to 30,000-50,000 eggs EVERY 3-4 DAYS – that’s potentially 2 MILLION eggs a year! Talk about a population explosion… literally why they’re invading everything! 🤯

3. Romantic Dance Moves: Males flash their fancy fins in a dramatic courtship dance, then the pair spirals up like a underwater tango. At the top? Female releases slimy gelatinous egg balls, male flips upside down to fertilize – upside-down high-five! 💃🕺

4. Toxic Protection: Those egg masses? Coated in nasty chemicals so predators go “ew, no thanks!” More babies survive = more lionfish takeover. Sneaky! 😈

5. Baby Glow-Up: Hatchlings are tiny, transparent ghosts at first – no stripes yet. They level up to punk-rock striped teens later. From cute blob to venomous diva! ✨

No wonder reefs are screaming “enough already!” But hey, at least they’re committed parents… kinda. 😂
