Using a calorie deficient diet to lose weight. The other day I was looking through result pictures of people 3 months into their weight loss journey and I noticed in the comments a young lady asked "What is the best way to loose belly fat?" and someone had answered that she needed to eat a calorie deficient diet. This answer had several likes and no one objected or suggested anything different. This answer is not only WRONG but it is the exact opposite of what one would do. Let me touch on the first misconception, targeting an area on the body to lose weight. Can't be done, well, not naturally anyway. It can be surgically removed but otherwise the body sheds weight from any place that fat is stored. It does this in 2 ways, burn it or p**s it. Now that issue has been dealt with lets move on to the heart of the matter. Eating a calorie deficient diet. Can you loose weight this way? Yes eventually, but it would be uncomfortable, unhealthy and not sustainable. Lets break down why, because it seems to me that this is the go to answer for the majority of the uneducated masses. The human body is a marvelous example of adaptational existence. It stores fat during the good times and it burns that fat during lean ones. The idea is to use this talent for adaptation to achieve the body that you truly want. Once you achieve this goal you are going to want to stay there. The body communicates with itself through a chemical process, insulin and other chemicals tell different parts to do different things. For the sake of having fun while we learn and for the ease of reading we are going to forgo the chemical anatomy lesson and give voices to the players in this give and take of the bodies natural adaptation process. If we go with the deficient diet which means you don't get enough food your body goes into lockdown mode. The admin of the fat around your lower legs might get with admin on the upper legs and say "you guys know what's going on? We aint seeing near enough food coming through, especially nun for storage." The upper Leg admin says "what, you guys too? I thought maybe it was just us. Nobody has said a word. You thinkin lock down?" Lower leg "that's exactly what I'm thinkin, unless I hear different nothing is leaving storage". A day latter after this person starts their new cardio routine, her little delivery drivers are told by the heart go get us food stat," I don't know what the hell is going on but we haven't seen elevated rates like this since Luby's put their Luanne plate on sell. All systems are screaming for fuel. Now go get it." So the drivers go to make their rounds and they find not much in the recently digested pantry and their next stop is their first fat storage which in this case for this driver is the fat around the left pinky finger where he hears " It all started yesterday morning down on the lower legs, I believe they were the ones to initiate, and if you didn't know, fat storage is unionized, by last night all fat was on lockdown". When it became obvious that he wasn't going to get any fat he went to emergency backup and that's when this s**t show became FUBAR. Lactic burn, when the body cannibalisms itself and starts burning muscle making the cardio exercise fruitless. In this scenario eventually the fat finally gets burned off but its a slow and bitter process. The end result is a body that looks like a starvation victim. Not even close to the body of ones dreams. Through the adaptation science diet we use the bodies system for survival to rapidly loose fat and gain or tone muscle at the same time. We eat every couple of hours so that we are never hungry. we have a cheat day once a week where we eat anything we have cravings for.
