Michael was already an excellent athlete when we began personal training. Michael’s attitude is that there’s always room for improvement and he always strives to put in the work and give his max effort. He knew he lacked some mobility that was preventing him from getting better at certain movements and had some imbalances and weaknesses in certain areas. We nailed down the areas that needed work after going through some assessments and tests. This was his takeaway from our training:

“During personal training, I was focused on addressing weakness with my overhead stability and gaining overall strength. As a result of my personal training, I gained about 12 lbs of muscle, increased all my benchmark lifts, and corrected my overhead stability weakness. Now, I have more confidence in my physical abilities and a sense of satisfaction that only comes from accomplishing goals!”

What’s important to you? And why?

When is the last time you did a self evaluation? Your health and your body are always changing in response to numerous factors such as age, stress, hormones, nutrition, training, sleep, environment…. So if you never change the way you treat your body, how much improvement are you going to see?

Now is as good a time as any to make a change. Start with a small one and go from there. And if your self isn’t motivation enough, do it for the ones you love. They care about you.
They are watching.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

Remember to enjoy the holidays! Eat the cookies and the pie and don’t feel bad about yourself or stress. Just get back to a regular healthy lifestyle the day after. Don’t make the holiday eating last from Thanksgiving till New Years. It’s important to enjoy the holidays but in short spurts.

Healthy eating in between holidays doesn’t have to be expensive or time consuming. It doesn’t have to be amazing and complicated. Your health is worth 10 minutes of cutting up some veggies and throwing them in the oven. Keep it simple and sustainable. Enjoy!!

Hey I’m back!! I know I’ve been absent for a while and I apologize!! I’ve been working on continuing education and planning but I’m here and I’m taking new clients again!! But I know you’re curious about what I’ve got in my bowl here. 😆

It’s homemade bone broth with liver and rice. All leftovers that I mixed together. That probably sounds disgusting. I’m not going to lie, it’s not the most delicious thing. But it’s tolerable and do you know how many vitamins and minerals are in here?!?!!! ALL OF THEM! 😋

Children make decisions on impulse and pleasure. As adults, we hopefully have learned to make more of our decisions on wisdom and betterment. So my challenge to you in your health journey is this: When was the last time you did something for yourself that you didn’t want to but you know was good for you? Make an adult decision today and take care of yourself even if it’s hard. Treat yourself better. 💪🏼

I love when I can connect with my clients. A good portion of a trainer’s job is personality. You can be the smartest, most educated trainer in the world but if I don’t enjoy training with you, I’m not going to try as hard as I can and eventually I’ll probably quit. Part of your health is your emotional health. So if I can make you smile or laugh, teach you about quality form and progression and get results.... Then I’m doing the best I can do for you.

Happy Monday!! It’s the first Monday after the time change. It’s dark still at 7am. It’s foggy. It’s perfect for sleeping and completely unmotivating. But when you have a client at 5:30am, you know that fitness, health and nutrition aren’t waiting for them to be motivated. It’s a choice, every morning, to get up and be dedicated to your health and your goals. Make a plan and keep working on it whether you feel like it or not. Here’s to everyone who showed up to Monday ready to go. 💪🏼

It’s International Women’s Day and I wasn’t going to post anything but I’m all fired up now after talking to another woman in a group of thousands... thousands!!! who all have the same problem and looking for help. We all have diastasis recti. Which is, put simply, a tear down the middle of your abdomen. The connective tissue that holds your abdomen together has been torn apart to make room for a baby. The fact that our bodies does this at all is amazing. The fact that it stays like this afterward is not. There are a million things that a hole in your core can affect. Back pain, core strength, digestion, sleeping, standing, sitting, hip pain, breathing, exercising, bending over, balance, spine health.... I could go on. Many, many, many other women could go on. The best part is that a vast majority of us were never informed of this. Never treated for it. Never checked for it after birth. Never given the opportunity for physical therapy. Never taken care of. Then once we discover it own our own and are already in immense progressive pain, we have to fight with doctors who tell us it’s cosmetic. It has no affect on our health. Lose weight!! That’ll fix it.🤯😤 Insurance? Nope! It’s cosmetic!! Last time I knew, if a man tears a muscle during literally any activity, he can get it covered under insurance. But not us. No. We only grew, carried and birthed a human being, tore open our abdomen so much so that we can reach our fingers down into our guts but it’s cosmetic. Thousands of women are forced to spend anywhere from $7,000 to $15,000 of their own money to repair their bodies back to a normal functioning human body. All the while, we take care of our families, the children we birthed and love, our houses, our jobs, ourselves and constantly in pain. Unrecognized.
We deserve better. We are amazing. We are moms. We are women. 💪🏼

These ladies just started training with me about a month ago and I’m super proud of the progress that they’ve made in training but also in their day to day lives. We face so many obstacles every day in making healthy choices. When my clients brag to me that they turned down desserts at work, that deserves some special recognition. Food is a huge social pressure. We connect with family and friends through food and many times we feel obligated to partake. People get offended! You didn’t eat my birthday donuts, you must not like me. It sounds ridiculous but the pressure is there! We’ve all felt it at one point. It’s so important to have someone you can be accountable to and give you that encouragement to make the hard choices. Have the willingness and determination to do what’s best for you and your health! 💪🏼

I think my favorite thing about training my clients is the confidence that grows over time. Taking on new clients always reminds me of when I began my fitness journey. Most of us come to fitness very self conscious, feeling inept in our abilities and maybe already feeling defeated about our current health. If you have the courage to step up and take care of yourself despite the voice in your head then you’re already amazing! And then to be part of instilling confidence and watch someone progress in the way they view themselves... that is my greatest honor. Fitness is so much more than just how big your muscles are. That’s just the fun part. 😉💪🏼
