GREAT WORK BY THESE OFFICERS OF THE HOUSTON POLICE DEPARTMENT!!!

My only critique here would be for officers to take a minute and make CERTAIN that the threat has been stopped BEFORE calling in “shots fired” on the radio. That is NOT the priority in that moment and EVERY department seem to train officers to do that.

Also, using some simple “bounding” team tactics where officers ALL take cover, one or two officers move forward while others cover them, then other officers move up to cover while others cover them, etc. Takes more time, but is a MUCH safer way to approach an armed suspect even if they seem like they are down.

Sadly this is NOT uncommon.

If you’ve never had formal training outside of law enforcement and military training, there’s about a 90% chance that you are unintentionally and unknowingly pointing your gun somewhere unsafe or breaking one of the 4 basic UNIVERSAL safety rules regularly.

The only difference is, you’ve never had a trained instructor watch you and correct you.

I have clients that have been shooting most of their lifetime in every LTC course I’ve taught over the last 20+ years, and I catch 90% of those people doing something wrong even after spending over 2 hours demonstrating, teaching, and warning people about gun safety.

For ALL of my courses, I bet clients the price of the course that they will learn something that will make them and their families abundantly safer and/or correct a misconception that would have sent them to prison. or I will refund their payment in full.

I have never had a single dissatisfied client in over 20 years of teaching.
