Introducing our Women's Team Captain Pam Qian. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in computer science. Before Rice, she rowed as a student-athlete for Simmons University. Pam is always ready to beat your 2K time or coach you during a difficult sprint. Her competitive spirit and kindness have made her the "mom of the team." She is originally from Beijing, China.

Saturday, October 29th is the first annual Rice Crew Ergathon!
It's happening at the Rice Crew Erg Room at Tudor Fieldhouse, where we'll be erging from 10am - 4pm to raise money for new racing shells.
You can make a pledge for each kilometer rowed - we plan to row around 600 kilometers, for which a pledge of $5 per kilometer would come out to a $3,000 contribution.
To make a pledge, let us know by email at [email protected].
We'll update you after the event with the total number of meters rowed and instructions on how to make the tax-deductible donation.
If you'd rather donate a fixed amount in advance of the event, simply visit https://riceconnect.rice.edu/donation/support-the-gibbs-rec-center. Under Special instructions specify "for Rice University Rowing Club". Note that these donations are eligible for a tax-deductible charitable contribution!

Congratulations on winning the Jill Pitman Jones award, Pam! ⭐️
As the team captain, Pam has been a key person for the team to grow, sustain through the pandemic, and participate in regattas. Her nickname is “Crew Mom” - she takes care of everything: people, boats, training, communication, facilities. She has recruited most of the current crew members. She introduced them to rowing culture and proper techniques, kept them motivated, and encouraged them to improve their results and get out there to compete against other schools.
