There have always been barriers to entry into cycling and triathlon. We're happy to see that USAT is committing to promoting diversity and inclusion within the community and has shared these resources. Looking forward to seeing how they continue these efforts, and would love to engage with Houstonians who want to see diversity in both recreational and commuter cycling!
Together, we thrive.
𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 makes us stronger.
𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐲 teaches us to embrace our differences, celebrate what makes us unique and treat everyone with love and respect.

At USA Triathlon, we are committed to taking immediate and long-term action to encourage a culture of equality in the sport, build a future for the sport that all people can see themselves being a part of, break through barriers of entry to the sport for underserved and underrepresented individuals and communities, and take responsibility for empowering, exposing, educating and engaging the multisport community to drive actionable change in their respective local communities.

As students that live in the Montrose and Midtown neighborhoods we support the demolition of the Brazos St. Bridge (AKA the wall the separates Montrose from Midtown) and instead replacing it with a park.
Replacing the bridge (its really a wall) with a park will improve pedestrian and bicycling connectivity between the two neighborhoods.
If you would like to see a more pedestrian friendly Houston, please click on the link below to ask the city council and the mayor to please build the park. The link also provides a plan of what the park would look like.
