My hopes and plans to continue the lease and development of a premier soccer center at Loop 610 and Hwy 288 on 10 acres came to a hault last summer. The owners of the land, The Baha'i, tired of the delays and demands of the City of Houston and Texas Department of Transportation over the last 3 years that stopped any further development by Texas International Soccer, and put the land up for sale at a price impossible for me to buy. My efforts to organize a sustainable and economical U23 premier league which depends on the good will and commitment of clubs also fell apart not one but three separate times due to club owners seeking personal advantage or simply failing to unite on common goals. I hope someday soon to revive and recommit to Texas International Soccer as a pathway for young committed players to achieve educational opportunities through soccer.
Texas International Soccer
Texas International Soccer Club is a not for profit club with very competitive teams in both youth and adult leagues.
(South Texas Youth Soccer Assn, Texas State Soccer Association-South, and national leagues).
Texas International Soccer League has secured fields in Bear Creek Park to begin its U23 summer season June 9. All games will on Friday evenings 6:00 and 8:00 pm. TISL is non profit, premier level league, governed by its team/club representatives. It's young teams will be registered though Texas State Soccer Association South. Call Skip Belt 281-650-2751 or Rafa Lopez 281-918-6041 if your team is seriously interested in playing preliminary qualifying games and joining the League.
A lot of changes have happened since the World Cup. Texas International Soccer is now planning to organize and administer a premier soccer league called Texas International Soccer League (TISL). In order to be an independent league it will cease operating as a Club or Academy and it will not field teams bearing the name Texas International in direct opposition with other member club teams in TISL. The player eligibility will be open age but the primary focus of TISL will be to promote a pathway for young talented players in transition from youth soccer to college soccer and/or pro-development. TISL is also an ideal league for Clubs already competing in pro-development leagues such as UPSL and USL. These Clubs could expand their player pool and place their younger or reserve team in TISL. We will certainly be more economical and responsive to the member Clubs and the young teams than the alternatives offered by UPSL and USL. In addition to college showcase tournaments TISL member teams though our affiliation and registration through Texas State Soccer Association South (TSSAS) will be eligible to compete in State championships and State, Regional, and National Playoffs as well as the Lamar Hunt National Tournament offered by UPSL and USL.
We hope to begin league play in May. Interested Clubs should contact Skip Belt for more information 281-650-2751.
Javier Cuellar suggested that I add my voice to encourage former players of Texas International to participate in the continuing tryouts for the new Club Racing Houston City FC today Tuesday and Thursday 7-9 pm at 2209 Theta. Racing will have two teams. The first team will play in the UPSL. The second team will be open age but will emphasize younger players 18 -23 and offer participation in college and pro-development showcase tournaments in addition to League play.
The second team will also serve as a player pool for transfer up to Racing UPSL. The younger Racing team will compete in the Texas International Soccer League affiliated with Texas State Soccer Association South, the largest and oldest affiliated soccer organization in Texas. It will also compete in the State, Regional and National Championship.
My role is organizer of this new premier league TISL. I am not a direct supporter of any team or club. TISL will work with the various UPSL Clubs as well other premier level Clubs promoting their young players. We are in the process of assembling teams in the greater Houston area to begin league play home and away in May 2023. Interested Clubs should call me Skip Belt 281-650-2751.
To all members, players, and supporters of Texas International Soccer. I wish to make it known to all that I and my organization have withdrawn from our arrangement with Soccer Centro wherein both organizations gave mutual assistance, shared facilities, equipment, and coaches for their Texas International premier teams in both juvenile and adult leagues.
Texas International Soccer will no longer operate under the Soccer Centro affiliation with the youth league STYSA. Both organizations will operate independently. Soccer Centro will not name any of its teams, both youth and adult, Texas International or Texas Inter, or use its insignia, or its uniforms or training jerseys when representing Soccer Centro. Texas International will likewise not interfere with the operations of Soccer Centro or its registered players. Neither organization has any claim against the other and bares no ill will. Current circumstances just reveal that both organizations could better reach their primary objectives operating independently. Best wishes to Javier.
SKIP BELT, founder and president of Texas International Soccer Association and its affiliates.

FÚTBOL, THE BEATIFUL GAME.

I am super proud of the 8 players that made it to Conroe for our last U19 league game vs Maya FC (actually Spring Branch). Everyone did double duty with no subs. It was well into the the second half before Spring Branch scored with a perfect long strike to the right corner just inches away from the outstretched hand of Edgar who volunteered as our keeper for the game. That fired up Spring Branch who relentlessly used their superior numbers to maintain possession on our side and to attack our goal, but our 8 players defended well. One of our counter attacks resulted in a direct kick foul against Spring Branch about 15 + feet out from the penalty arc. I saw the field sloped quite a bit toward the goal and the defensive wall of Spring Branch was at least 6 tall players, so I commented to Coach Lopez that our kick if over the wall would likely go over the top of the goal. Coach Lopez bet me we would score. A few seconds later Aldo Calles fired a rocket close to the ground into his left corner of the goal for the tie 1-1.
