Taboo Nawasha (Jaime Luis Gomez) was born on July 14, 1975, in Los Angeles. Rising to fame as the dynamic emcee of the Black Eyed Peas, he powered hits like “Where Is the Love?” and “My Humps” on Grammy-winning albums Elephunk and Monkey Business, redefining early-2000s pop and hip-hop.

Beyond the stage, Taboo’s 2016 anthem “Stand Up / Stand N Rock” earned a Native American Music Award for its solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. As an ambassador for health, education, and indigenous rights, he mentors youth and champions cultural preservation—continuing to inspire a new generation of artists.

Remembering the Old West

CRAFTSMANSHIP, 1941. The Quarter Circle U Ranch near Birney had structures with extraordinary precision and craftsmanship. Farm Security Administration (FSA) photographer Marion Post Wolcott took hundreds of photos showing unique and gorgeous corrals, housing, barns, and fencing.

The Quarter Circle U Ranch was a cattle and horse outfit, but during the dust bowl years it added dude ranch operations. City slickers (dudes, both male and female) paid for an “authentic” western experience of riding horses and doing some ranch chores.
