He began his career in the 1960s and rose to prominence with roles in Bang the Drum Slowly (1973), Mean Streets (1973), and especially The Godfather Part II (1974), which earned him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He continued to impress with Taxi Driver (1976), Raging Bull (1980 – Best Actor Oscar), Goodfellas, Casino, Heat, The Irishman (2019), and Killers of the Flower Moon (2023). Beyond acting, he co-founded the Tribeca Film Festival, the global Nobu restaurant chain, and is a vocal advocate for social justice, arts education, and climate action. Taboo Nawasha (Jaime Luis Gomez) was born on July 14, 1975, in Los Angeles. Rising to fame as the dynamic emcee of the Black Eyed Peas, he powered hits like “Where Is the Love?” and “My Humps” on Grammy-winning albums Elephunk and Monkey Business, redefining early-2000s pop and hip-hop.

Beyond the stage, Taboo’s 2016 anthem “Stand Up / Stand N Rock” earned a Native American Music Award for its solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. As an ambassador for health, education, and indigenous rights, he mentors youth and champions cultural preservation—continuing to inspire a new generation of artists.

Chief Dan George (born Geswanouth Slahoot, July 24, 1899 – Tsleil-Waututh Nation, Canada) was a remarkable actor, poet, writer, and spiritual leader of Indigenous heritage.
He rose to fame with his unforgettable role as Old Lodge Skins in Little Big Man (1970), earning him an Oscar nomination – the first ever for an Indigenous Canadian actor.
Beyond the screen, he was a powerful voice for Indigenous rights, tirelessly advocating for cultural preservation, environmental protection, and social justice.
Through his poetry, books, speeches, and community work, he inspired pride, unity, and cultural awareness, empowering future generations of Indigenous youth.
🕊 His legacy lives on – as a timeless symbol of identity, strength, and hope for Indigenous communities and all who value cultural diversity.

NORTHERN CHEYENNE GIRLS, with their finest toys and best dresses, 1907. Julia (Troops) Tuell had been a 21-year-old schoolteacher when she arrived in 1906 at the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Eastern Montana. She learned the language and preserved views of reservation life.

Later, Tuell taught school and took photographs from 1913-29 at the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota, home of the Sioux (Sicangu Oyate), a branch of the Lakota people. Photography was becoming less expensive, more democratic. Candid shots of everyday life were becoming more frequent, smiles were starting to appear in photographs. NINE NEW SHEEP WAGONS, by Robert C. Morrison, sometime before 1909. The wagons were bought by William E. (Charley) Harris from Miles & Ulmer in Miles City, Montana. Harris reportedly came to the area in about 1881 as a buffalo hunter, but the large buffalo herds were gone by 1883. In the winter of 1885, Harris brought six bands of sheep, perhaps about 7,500, to the Pumpkin Creek area about 40 miles south of Miles City. This was cattle country, and Loorman Hoopes in This Last West reported that “all hell broke loose,” but provided no specifics.
