We focus on Aikido as taught in Japan, as a tool to work on ourselves, become better individuals and learn a little self-defense.

πŸ₯‹ Aikido Tip: Keep your chin level.

Looking too far down or lifting your chin too high can throw off your posture and awareness. Keep your gaze calm and level as you move.

Are you staying balanced with your posture? πŸ‘‡

πŸ₯‹ Aikido is one of the few places where people of all experience levels come together to learn, improve, and support each other.

Every class is a chance to move better, clear your mind, and build confidence one step at a time. πŸ™Œ

If you've been thinking about starting or coming back, come train with us at the Brenda and John Duncan YMCA. We'd love to have you on the mat.

πŸ₯‹ A lot of power in Aikido doesn't come from the arms; it comes from the hips.

In this Misogi no Jo practice, the difference between moving your whole body and just moving your upper body becomes very clear.

When the hips lead, the movement feels more connected, balanced, and efficient. That's where technique really comes alive.

πŸ₯‹ Strength. Honor. Reflection.

Memorial Day is a time to remember those who served with courage, discipline, and selflessness.

In Aikido, we value respect, awareness, and peace β€” principles that remind us to reflect with gratitude today. πŸ•ŠοΈ

πŸ₯‹ Aikido is more than just what happens on the mat.

It's the people you train with, the mindset you build, and the small improvements that add up over time.

Every class is a chance to learn something new and be part of a supportive community. πŸ™Œ

If you've been thinking about starting (or coming back), come join us at the Brenda and John Duncan YMCA.

πŸ₯‹ If you want to truly improve your Aikido, it goes beyond technique.

Understanding the culture, mindset, and intention behind the art changes how you move, train, and connect everything together.

This is where Aikido starts to feel deeper, not just something you do, but something you understand.

πŸ’¬ How much do you focus on the meaning behind the movement?

πŸ₯‹ Aikido Tip: Match your partner's timing.

Don't rush or lag behind. Blend with the movement and find the rhythm.

Are you forcing the pace or matching it? πŸ‘‡

πŸ₯‹ There's a place for you on the mat.

No matter where you're starting from, every class is a chance to learn something new, move a little better, and be part of a great group of people.

Progress happens one step, one rep, one class at a time πŸ’ͺ

πŸ’¬ What's something you're excited to improve right now?

Come train with us at the Brenda and John Duncan YMCA β€” we'd love to have you join us πŸ™Œ
