Updated Summer league schedule for Tuesday and Thursday this week:
06/05/2026
Golden Tor Basketball traveled to Northwestern State University today and picked up 3 wins over David Thibodeaux, Pineville, & Jefferson Rise. That completed a 5-0 week from the Tors in the first week of summer league. However, the biggest win of all today was receiving news that Hayden may be coming home as soon as early next week.

First, we want to thank everyone for the incredible outpouring of support, prayer, & concern for Hayden. Your messages and encouragement have meant a great deal during a very difficult time.
As many of you know, he suffered an internal injury during play on Tuesday night. He is currently receiving medical care & is being monitored closely by his medical team.
We are encouraged by his progress and grateful for the care he is receiving.
Hayden is an incredibly tough young man, that has a team/family/community praying to a God that heals.
Please continue to keep Hayden, his family, and his teammates in your prayers. Our entire team is deeply grateful for the love and support shown from this community.

Reminder that tryouts are tomorrow, Tuesday after school.
We would like to take this opportunity to address some common questions/concerns regarding tryouts:
1. First of all, if you are from Sulphur or attend SHS feeder schools and developing as a young man is important, developing as a basketball player is important, belonging to a positive/caring family atmosphere is important, if WINNING is important, playing for a program that is developing collegiate level players, playing in the best atmosphere/environment with the best fans, being a part of district championships, having the absolute best player facilities, & so much more…if these things are important to you, then you will want to be there to tryout for an opportunity to belong to such a program.
2. Clear definition of the the players we are looking for have been defined by the coaching staff. There will be 4 coaches/evaluators in the gym with a rubric evaluating: effort, coachability, competitiveness, basketball iq, skill, toughness, & team fit. Each coach will evaluate independently, and then collaborate together at the conclusion of tryout.
3. skills that will be evaluated: ball handling/dribbling, shooting, passing, catching, footwork, defensive stance and ability.
4. Players will be evaluated in: mass drills, Small Group stations that will be rotated to each Coach, small sided games 3V3 to ensure each player gets plenty of touches, live game/competitions.
5. We are looking for players that can help our program win the way we play the game. For players that enhance our environment and raise our standards.
6. At tryouts, players should relax, have fun, enjoy the tryout process to the best of their abilities. Control what they can control.
7. A roster announcing Golden Tornado basketball will be released on our social media page and posted on the gym doors by Wednesday 9am or before.
8. A young man’s value is much higher than whether or not he makes the cut for his high school basketball team.
