Why do we do more than ride? – To fight multiple sclerosis (MS), a progressive neurological disease, and help provide funding to create breakthroughs to transform the quality of life for others in our communities. We accept the challenge to ride over 150 miles in two days to give others hope. If this sparks your passion to ride, or even if it sounds like something you’d enjoy, it’s time to join Team Sun & Ski Sports. Together, we will ride to help end MS. Ready2Roll Cycling Ride #1: Fulshear High School - Feb 5, 9:00 am
You read the headline correct - due to the cold temperature, we're delaying the start until 9:00 to let things warm up a bit.
Start Window: 9:00 - 9:30 am (approx.)
Start Location: Fulshear High School, 29851 FM-1093 77441
(GPS Coordinates: 29°41'29.2"N 95°53'10.3"W)
Directions to the Start:
• Take the Westpark Tollway west to where it ends (approx 3 miles west of the Grand Parkway) and becomes FM-1093.
• Continue west on FM-1093 about 4 miles to the service entry drive to the Fulshear schools - it's unnamed but we'll have it well marked - on the right.
• Turn right on the service drive and drive past the first school (junior high) to the high school. If you miss the drive, there is a light 100 yards past the drive at Charger Way. Turn right at the light and turn right again at the service drive just past the junior high.
• Please DON'T PARK in the first parking areas (Jr. High) as you enter. Drive further north and there are five parking areas around the high school which will easily accommodate all of us.
• The sign in area will be set up along the service drive behind the high school. EVERYONE IS REQUIRED TO SIGN IN!
• Smartdrinks will definitely be back this weekend so you can enjoy a great hot coffee (or chocolate) before the ride and a smoothy when you finish!
Distance Options: 23, 36, 50 or 63 miles
Rest Stops: 1 for 23, 2 for 36, 3 for 50 or 4 for 63-mile route.
Terrain: Mostly flat with some gently rolling roads on the 13-mile loop at the north end.
Weather Overview: Mostly sunny, in the mid-30's to low 40's. NNW wind at 7-9 mph so a light wind heading out and behind you coming back. Dress warm in layers - it's better to take a layer off, if you get too warm, than get cold! Please expect, and prepare for extremely cold conditions. If you missed it, our Winter Wear email has been posted on the Communications/Maps page of our web site. PLEASE read this note and, if you don't already have some good cold weather wear, the time spent doing that this week, will keep you comfortable on Saturday.
Guest Riders: Not permitted this week, or all season!
