53 years ago yesterday, Houston became Howeston, as Gordie, Mark, and Marty Howe laced up the skates for the Houston Aeros for the very 1st time!

We are pleased to share that Mark, Marty, and Mary Howe will be returning to Houston for Hockey Day In Houston 2027 making it a hat trick appearance at the event.

Inducted into the Houston Hockey Hall Of Fame in 2025, the Howe family donated $50,000 to hockey in Houston through Hockey Day In Houston to be shared amongst many different organizations and scholarship recipients.

The Howe legacy will continue to live on for hockey in Houston, as the Hockey Day In Houston Slap Shot Scholarship will continue to honor the legacy for the Howe Foundation mission in honor of Gordie and Colleen Howe! The 2027 Hockey Day In Houston Slap Shot scholarship will be announced in November.

Houston hockey is forever grateful for the Howe family as they are a big reason why Houston became a Hockey Town!

We can't wait to reunite Mark and Marty with their New England Whalers teammate, Steve Carlson #17 this March!
