We are aware of the recent arrest and serious allegations involving former employee and former member Lester Batres Jr.

As soon as we became aware of the allegations months ago, Lester was immediately terminated from all involvement with Renzo Gracie Lake Houston and permanently banned from our academy. He has not been affiliated with our team since that time.

The safety of our students, families, and community will always come first. We take matters like this extremely seriously and acted immediately once information was brought to our attention.

Out of respect for those involved and the ongoing legal process, we will not be making further public comments at this time.

On Wednesday April 15th, we’ll have the pleasure of welcoming Prof. Romulo Reis Pereira to the academy for a special class. Romulo was one of Mike Calimbas main professors from blue belt to black at RGA Houston and continues to be a mentor today. He’s also built one of the standout competition teams in the area specifically with his women’s team so we’re excited for you all to learn from him. The Gracie name isn’t just a name on the wall but a legacy we represent so make sure to class that day and learn some from someone very close to the source.

Setbacks can teach you lessons that winning can’t. Those lessons are found in how you respond and overcome them.

As human beings we will inevitably face difficulty in all areas of our lives. Building a strong character and resiliency will help you not only overcome them, but come back a stronger greater version of yourself every single time. Once you realize that, you’ll be even greater because you’ll never be scared to lose. 🫡
