Here’s a close study of a woven metal sculpture by Michael Stutz in San Francisco. I rotated the composition to focus on the head, neck, and arm. The lattice creates a profile that feels both solid and open, with gaps letting background color come through while bronze and pewter tones trace the cheek and jaw. Up close the pattern reads almost architectural; from a distance the silhouette holds as a human form. What do you notice first, the lines or the face?
