MovNat is not anti-barbell 🏋️‍ Or anti-strength-and-conditioning 💪🏽 Or anti-specialization 🎯

We’re pro…

✅ using the right tool for the right job
✅ integrating strength and conditioning with unspecialized skill training to produce more well-rounded ability
✅ specializing when needed or desired after you’ve built a good foundation of Natural Movement, which is the base of all movement

And if you’re not 100% on board with these ideas, that’s okay! We’re just glad you’re here 🤗

But the bottom line is we care a lot more about efficient, adaptable movement than we do about the tools we use to train it. 🍃💯

For example, you can train the deadlift with a medicine ball, sandbag, stone, log, dumbbell, kettlebell, barbell, backpack, or practically anything else you can pick up off the ground. They can all be used to improve and strengthen this basic hinging movement pattern. And if you find yourself at a MovNat Level 1 Certification, you’ll likely learn this technique with a few different tools like these. 🪨🪵🎒

It’s good to practice with a variety of tools because sometimes, things we need to lift in everyday life aren’t perfectly balanced, symmetrical or fit easily into our hands like a barbell does. Therefore, subtle differences in technique may be needed depending on its size, shape, and ease of holding. 👍🏽

Whether your goal is to get as strong as possible to compete in the sport of weightlifting, or you just want to be able to pick up items off the ground without pain or unnecessary wear and tear, we want you to be empowered to use the right tools, techniques, and training for the job. 🛠

knocking out 290 # x3! Up 30 # from last PR. First time in 2-3 months we've touched the hex bar. Shows that you don't have to hit the same exercise every workout to improve. Train movement patterns not individual exercises!

I've always hated running. Being a strength coach gave me a convenient excuse to avoid it. MovNat teaches the necessity of being a well rounded athlete though so I made it happen. Turns out I didn't hate running, I just had awful technique and made it a miserable experience. Something I've learned training myself and coaching others is that if it sucks, you're probably doing it wrong.

If anyone ever asks what the value of a single leg / pistol squat is, you have my permission to show them this video.

Once upon a time, people had to move in nature to feed themselves, their family and community. They had to perform the practical and adaptable natural movements our biology is evolutionarily designed to do and is highly capable of doing. 🧬

This daily Natural Movement behavior, originally and ideally done in nature, is also what our biology and neurophysiology needs to thrive. It’s the simplest yet most complete and powerful form of exercise. 💪🏽

I’ve coined the term “Natural Movement” 14 years ago to make it become a concept that modern people and the mainstream could understand, and devised a training method called MovNat so that people could learn and teach the most effective ways to practice Natural Movement. 🐾

Natural Movement was, still is, and always will be a biological, real-world reality and necessity for any human being wanting to stay or become healthy and physically capable. Whereas all modern fitness and exercise protocols are in essence both specialized and optional, Natural Movement will never be removed from human nature and its fundamental function and potential. ~ Erwan Le Corre 🍃

Horizontally resisted overhead press. Awesome, simple exercise for warming up vertical press patters, teaching upper back stability, and rehabbing posture issues. Less is more, go light and do a lot.
