As a fitness industry we not only need to empower, encourage and mentor our clients, but we also need to do the same for our coaches!
In my experience too often we tend to play the stump the chump game when we are providing education to our new coaches who are there to seek knowledge and grow, but all this does is intimidate and push them away!
Everyone deserves a safe and supportive environment to grow and when you are just trying to prove your own intelligence or sarcastically point out what the newer coach doesn't know you alienate them and stop them from even trying to ask questions and learn because of the fear of ridicule!
If you are a leader in our industry who is trying to educate our future coaches then you need to learn that it's not about you, it's about those who are trusting you!
As an instructor don't puff up your ego and spit scientific and technical jargon all day to someone who is still learning to grasp eccentric and concentric muscle contractions. They need to know it's ok to not know yet and feel comfortable that you are willing to guide them.
Get to know them and start with the basics just as you would with your day 1 clients and let them go at their own pace while you reinforce the trust and the process of trying and failng until you finally grasp it!
Do your best to be a safe space for those who trust you today my friends!

Exercise only works if you do 😯
