PITCHERS: Sometimes the toughest seasons come right before your biggest breakthrough. But only if you refuse to quit. šŖ
Two years ago, this girl wrapped up a solid 10U season. She saw plenty of mound time, ended her season with an over-the-fence home run, and moved on feeling confident and excited for what was next.
But next season⦠inning after inning, game after game, she asked to pitch. And the answer was always the same. āWeāll get you in next game.ā
Except next game came. And the next. And the next. She pitched a total of THREE innings the entire season. And she ended that year feeling defeated.
But hereās where the story gets good.
She only stayed defeated for a moment. Then she made a decision: She was going to work so hard they couldnāt NOT put her on that mound.
And thatās exactly what sheās doing. Putting in the hours. Gaining speed. Developing new pitches. Building confidence. Pitch after pitch after pitch.
And this season? She saw more mound time in her FIRST GAME than she did all of last season. Sheās on her way to becoming something fierce. š„
But what if sheād let last season define her? What if sheād decided she wasnāt good enough? What if sheād quit before discovering what she was capable of?
So this is for every athlete who isnāt getting the playing time they want. Youāre sitting on the bench, watching someone else get the opportunities you want. Wondering when itāll finally be your turn.
GOOD. USE THAT.
Let it fuel you. Let it push you. Let it be the reason you show up early, stay late, and work when nobodyās watching.
Donāt waste your energy being bitter about the opportunities youāre not getting. Put that energy into becoming the athlete they canāt overlook. One pitch at a time. One workout at a time. One day at a time.
WORK. Work so hard they canāt NOT put you in.
Because sometimes the season that makes you question everything is the very season that builds the athlete youāre meant to become.
You got this. š«¶š½
