Jubilee Aerial

Like most parents, my mom held on to EVERYTHING! A few months ago she gave me a tone of seemingly random items from my childhood.

Today I was rummaging through a box and found a folder full of memorabilia; certificates, accomplishments, and performance bills.

But what really captured my eye was this piece of paper from my first gymnastics coach. I was almost in tears reading each poem. Then I was a full on mess reading the “why”.

This was a great reminder to continue to work through the hard times and follow the dream as I pour every ounce of myself into making Jubilee Aerial a reality. Creating a space for others that reflects what my childhood gymnastics center was for me. Being the best coach, mentor, and friend that I can be so that others feel confident, supported, and empowered.

I share these words with you in hopes that no matter the challenge or how impossible things feel, never give up and never quit. 💪🩵💚♥️

Who or what inspires you to keep going?

Can you believe it's already been a month!?! We've met with the rigger and installment should happen in the next few weeks. In the meantime, we're making interior improvements, getting all of our equipment ordered, and sharpening up our curriculum. Can't wait to get these doors open and welcome everyone to the fun!

This is the story of how Jubilee Aerial came to be more than an idea.

Movement has always been my passion. I've studied dance, gymnastics, and acrobatics my whole life. Right out of high school, I was dancing professionally, teaching at a small local studio, going to school, and working food service jobs to pay the bills.

The I got really sick. My world stopped. I was told my dance career was over. I was broken and didn't know who to be without dance.

It took a long time, but I healed, physically and emotionally. I went back to school to study dance and education, and worked my way to Gymnastics and Dance Director at the YMCA. Eventually, I burnt out and decided to use my education degree. I entered the classroom full time but kept coaching part time.

When I discovered aerial arts, I instantly fell in love. I felt strong, creative, graceful. I felt like me again. I began performing and attending aerial teacher trainings, where I found, for the first time, people I connected with.

Years later, while still coaching part time, I took a remote full-time job to give myself a break from always having to be "on" as an educator. After four years though, I was told to move across the country or lose it. I was devastated.

Months of job hunting. Resumes. Portfolios. I wasn't getting anywhere. I felt exhausted and like a failure.

The one day, my husband asked: "What if you opened your own studio?" The vision immediately started to unfold. We got a business consultant, did the research, and I realized I had everything I needed: the passion, the drive, and the experience as an educator, a leader, a project manager.

Jubilee Aerial is a culmination of my passion and experience. A place where I can share what I love with my community. A safe place for building friendships and being authentic, where everyone is celebrated for being themselves.

There’s something vulnerable about painting a mural of your business logo right where everyone who enters will see it. Some may scrutinize it and judge the imperfections.

But Jubilee Aerial is a space where you can be vulnerable; where you can show up as your authentic self. We’re not only creating a space that celebrates aerial and circus, but also a space that celebrates each individual just as they are.
