Jay has been a trusted name in the boating community, providing a high-quality product through his expertise and that of his staff. Ownership of Allerton Harbor Canvas has transitioned to Paul Brown and Marlean Komar.

With this change in ownership, please rest assured that the core values and commitments you’ve come to associate with our brand will remain steadfast. We are committed to honoring the legacy meticulously crafted by Jay. We are dedicated to upholding the tradition of excellence, providing you with the same high-quality marine canvas products, delivered promptly and competitively priced.

The position of Marine Canvas Fabricator would entail: assist in marine canvas fabrication, building, installing and maintenance. A passion for building, using tools, measuring, organization, honesty, patience, planning, accuracy, punctuality and the willingness to learn would be required. The candidate should have a driver’s license. Finally, we are looking for a team player to work with our skilled group of craftsmen professionals.
The shop is located in Hull, MA at the Steamboat Wharf Marina and is a clean and organized workplace. We pride ourselves in being a comfortable, drug free and enjoyable place to work. We all take a great deal of pride in our work and would expect the same from the candidate. The position would entail;
Patterning, usually done on the boats with some commercial or residential locations. This would generally be done with the guidance of one of our team members.
Building, Requires the skill of layout; following exacting measurements. A visual thinker helps in this position. Sewing on an industrial machine, frame bending and assembly; The the use of power tools to fabricate a variety of structures.
Repairing, A fair amount of our business is repairing existing canvas. This requires good judgment, careful planning and the ability to follow instructions.
Installing is usually done on boats. The applicant will work with and under the direction of an experienced team member. It requires use of hand/power tools and ladders. We work on a variety of small and large boats, both sail and power.
General Attention to keeping workspace clean and orderly as well as common areas of the shop.
