The Butterfly Guard: Old School, Still Gold 🦋 These days, you see Adam Wardzinski @wardziak_bjj putting the butterfly guard on the map in high-level gi competition. But here’s the truth — this system was already a nightmare for opponents back in the 90s and early 2000s. One of the guys who mastered it? @teamnovauniao Team Nova União legend Leonardo Santos @leosantosjj . Leo didn’t just play butterfly — he weaponized it. Complete guard, relentless sweeps, and a transition game that made seasoned black belts hesitate. If social media existed back then, his highlight reels would’ve broken the internet.
