I spy with my eye an AED machine in public. How many can you find this week? We'd love to see where you found an AED machine.
Been training since 2004 and started this company as Upbeat CPR, LLC in 2007. We teach the latest material from the American Heart Assocation in a fun way!
Getting CPR and First Aid Training, or BLS for Healthcare Providers can be dull, not with us!

A very special thank you for our instructor Jeremy! Today Jeremy and I were out so early in the morning to let my sister Brandy Long race in the Houston Running Co's Lemonade Dash! Jeremy ran a 10K while Brandy enjoyed rolling along jamming to the tunes with the Ainsley’s Angels! A very special, thank you, Jeremy for the use of your legs and your time this morning! You made my sister a very happy girl!

“What if I press the button and accidentally shock someone?”
If you’ve ever looked at an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) box on a wall and felt a wave of anxiety, you are not alone. TV shows make it look like a high-stakes guessing game, but the real-world reality is completely different.
Here is the secret about an AED: It is completely foolproof because the machine does all the thinking for you!
When you open an AED, it immediately starts speaking to you, walking you through every single step in a clear voice. Here is what actually happens when you turn it on:
1) It gives instructions: It tells you exactly what steps need to be performed next.
2️) It shows you where to place them: The adhesive pads have clear drawings printed on them showing you precisely where they go on the chest.
3️) It analyzes the heart: Once the pads are on, the AED tells everyone to step back while it reads the person’s heart rhythm.
4️) It makes the safety decision: This is the most important part. An AED will never, ever deliver a shock unless the person’s heart is in a specific, chaotic rhythm that requires it. If they don't need a shock, the machine simply will not let you give one. You cannot override it, and you cannot make a mistake.
An AED isn’t a dangerous medical tool meant only for paramedics—it’s a safety net designed for you to use during a sudden cardiac arrest emergency.
At Upbeat CPR, we demystify these devices so you feel 100% confident using them. The box on the wall shouldn’t be intimidating. Let’s learn how it works together!
Looking for an on-site, mobile CPR and AED class near you? We bring everything needed for hands-on practice across the Greater Houston area, with certified instructors serving Friendswood, Humble, and surrounding communities. Drop a comment or send us a DM to set up a convenient group session!

Did you know that America’s favorite morning treat has a sneaky side? 🍩
We all love a fresh, soft doughnut with our morning coffee. But because of their dense, doughy, and often sticky texture, baked goods like doughnuts are actually a surprisingly common choking hazard—especially for young kids and older adults!
Choking is a leading cause of unintentional injury, but it is almost entirely preventable with mindful munching. When an emergency does happen, seconds count. Knowing exactly what to do can make all the difference.
Before you take your next bite, remember these quick tips:
Chew thoroughly: Doughnuts can compact easily into a thick mass; taking smaller bites is key.
Sit down & focus: Avoid eating while running around or driving.
Supervise the little ones: Cut treats into smaller, manageable pieces for young children.
Prevention is always the first step, but confidence in an emergency is the ultimate safety net. At Upbeat CPR, we bring life-saving skills directly to you. Our mobile training is designed to give you hands-on, practical knowledge in the comfort of your own space—so you, your family, or your team are always ready to respond calmly and effectively.
Let's keep breakfast delicious and safe!

“What if I do it wrong and get sued?”
This is the number one fear people share with us during class. It is completely understandable—stepping in during a life-or-empty crisis is intimidating enough without worrying about legal trouble.
But here is the truth that every bystander needs to know:
MYTH: You can be sued or held legally liable if you perform CPR or use an AED incorrectly during an emergency.
FACT: Good Samaritan laws exist in Texas and across the country specifically to protect everyday citizens who step up to help someone in good faith.
The law understands that you aren't a doctor in a hospital; you are a caring community member doing your best in a sudden cardiac arrest emergency. The only real mistake you can make is doing nothing at all. When someone's heart stops, intervention is their absolute best chance at survival until professional medical personnel arrive.
At Upbeat CPR, we don't just teach you the physical mechanics of chest compressions—we give you the knowledge and personal confidence to act without hesitation.
We bring premium, stress-free CPR, AED, and First Aid certification courses directly to your location. As a fully mobile training service, we make it simple for families, local businesses, coaches, and childcare providers to learn these life-saving skills in a comfortable environment.
Don't let fear hold you back from saving a life.

June 1st kicks off National CPR and AED Awareness Week!
Did you know that sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in the United States, yet less than half of the people who experience it receive the immediate help they need before professional medical personnel arrive?
CPR and quick access to an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can double—or even triple—a person’s chance of survival. The biggest barrier keeping people from stepping in isn't a lack of care; it’s a lack of confidence.
At Upbeat CPR, we are on a mission to replace that hesitation with empowering, hands-on knowledge. Our certified team provides convenient, on-site emergency preparedness training, bringing top-tier CPR, AED, and First Aid certification courses directly to your location. Whether you are an individual consumer looking to protect your family, a fitness coach, a childcare provider, or a local business optimizing your workplace safety compliance, we make mastering these life-saving skills accessible and stress-free.
You don't need a medical background to be a hero. You just need the willingness to learn.

In the movies, drowning is full of splashing and shouting for help. But in reality? Drowning is almost always silent.
As we head into the 2026 swim season here in the Houston metroplex, it’s vital to know that once a person begins to struggle, they physically cannot call out. Their body’s only focus is gasping for air.
The Signs of "Silent" Drowning:
🚫 No Splashing: They may look like they are "climbing" an invisible ladder.
🚫 Head Low in Water: Mouth at water level, head tilted back with mouth open.
🚫 Glassy Eyes: Unfocused, or eyes closed entirely.
🚫 Hyperventilation: Gasping or labored breathing.
🚫 Vertical Position: No leg movement or kicking; they are upright in the water.
What to Do Next:
If you pull someone from the water and they are unresponsive and not breathing, you are the bridge to their survival. Immediate CPR is non-negotiable.
At Upbeat CPR, we include swimming pool CPR training for families in Friendswood, Katy, and beyond during our Heartsaver First Aid training. We bring our mobile gear to your backyard or community center to ensure every "Water Guardian" is ready to act.
Don't just watch the water—actively monitor those in the water.

In high-impact sports like football, soccer, and volleyball across the Houston metroplex, a "ding" or "getting your bell rung" is never just part of the game. Concussions are brain injuries, and rapid recognition is the most critical first aid step.
If an athlete takes a significant blow to the head, remember the STOP Method:
🛑 S = STOP: Immediately pull them from play. No delay.
🗣️ T = TALK: Look for confusion, slurred speech, or repeating questions. Ask simple, direct questions about time and place.
👀 O = OBSERVE: Watch for physical symptoms. Severe headache, nausea, 🌀 dizziness, or 👁️ dilated/uneven pupils are immediate red flags.
🚫 P = PREVENT: NEVER allow an athlete with a suspected head injury back on the field. They must be cleared by a licensed medical professional.
At Upbeat CPR, we’re dedicated to building safer high school sports communities in Friendswood, Katy, and beyond. Our specialized first aid certification covers concussion recognition and initial care, empowering coaches, trainers, and parents to act with confidence.
Swipe through to master the STOP protocol and make safety the real win this season!

Most of us use our Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch, or Google Pixel Watch just to check notifications or count daily steps. But did you know your wrist-wear is packed with medical-grade tech designed around the American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines? 🫀⌚
The AHA highlights "Life's Essential 8" as the ultimate blueprint for a healthy heart—and your wearable is the perfect tool to track them. Here is how to turn that tech into your personal health coach:
🏃♂️ Hit Your 150: The AHA recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity per week. Don’t just guess—use your watch’s Heart Rate Zones (Cardio/Peak) to make sure your brisk walks, cycling, or runs are hitting the right intensity.
💤 The 7-Hour Sweet Spot: Sleep is when your blood pressure drops and your heart recovers. Use native sleep staging to track your light, deep, and REM cycles to ensure you’re getting 7–9 hours of quality rest.
📈 Watch Your Vitals: From tracking your Resting Heart Rate and Heart Rate Variability (HRV) to logging manual blood pressure and glucose trends, your phone’s health dashboard is a living report card for your cardiovascular system.
Small changes on your wrist lead to massive victories for your heart.
