You may know a lot about your family health history or only a little. To get the complete picture, ask these questions during family holiday gatherings:
- Do any family members have serious or chronic diseases?
- Do any diseases run in the family?
- How old were they when they developed these diseases?
- Have any family members had surgeries or been hospitalized?
- Does anyone in your family take medications regularly?
- What diseases have your deceased relatives have?
- What was the cause of their death and how old were they?
Though these questions may seem a little grim for family conversation, knowing these important health facts may help you, your doctor, and your health one day.

- Ensure those eligible at the gathering are fully vaccinated
- If you're around young kids who cannot vaccinate, consider outdoor gatherings
- If you're traveling, make sure to wear a mask, avoid crowds, and wash your hands frequently.
