A sad day for Southern California Softball. News of LA Coastlines Instructional Chair and USA Softball staff member, Danny Winders, has passed away. The following email was sent by State UIC, Laura Head.
Dear All,
It is with an incredibly heavy heart that I write to inform you of the devastating news of the passing of our dear friend, Danny Winders. Earlier today, Danny lost his battle with Acute Leukemia, leaving us all in deep sorrow and disbelief.
Just 16 days ago, on September 5, 2023, Danny received an unexpected diagnosis of Acute Leukemia. The doctors immediately initiated treatment, and we held onto hope for his recovery. However, despite the best efforts of the medical team, Danny's condition deteriorated rapidly, and he tragically succumbed to his battle.
The suddenness of this loss has left us all in shock and disbelief. We understand that this news may come as a surprise to you as well. As soon as the service arrangements have been finalized, I will ensure that you receive the necessary information. It is important for us to come together as a community to honor and remember Danny during this difficult time.
I kindly request that you keep Danny's wife, Kathy, and their daughters, Kelsie and Molly, in your thoughts and prayers. They are facing an unimaginable loss and will undoubtedly need the support and strength of their loved ones to navigate through this period of mourning.
Danny was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many with his kindness, generosity, and infectious spirit. His absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Let us remember him for the joy he brought into our lives and the lasting impact he made on our hearts.
May Danny's soul find eternal peace, and may his memory be a source of comfort and strength for all of us.
With heartfelt condolences,
Laura Head
