CFB went to the NXT Level Classic at Nxt Level CrossFit this weekend and when the dust settled all of our Teams and Individuals showed up on the podium!

A huge thank you to Johnie, Hailee and Mike and the rest of the judges and crew at NXT Level. They put on an outstanding event. The gyms in the Barboursville/Wheelersburg/Portsmouth CF community are strong on their own, but even stronger together. We are so thankful for you all!

Congrats to our athletes that competed. I’m always so proud of CFBs performance, not just from a win/loss standpoint, but also our sportsmanship and standards. Proud of you team.

Successful business trip to Crossfit Alpha Pack for Dawg Days 5 this morning. CFB had 3 teams competing and all 3 represented the gym and our community proudly.

Seth Waggoner and Katherine teamed up for the first time - Seth’s first taste of competition ever - and ended up in a 3-way tie for 5th in Scaled. These two have shown about as much improvement and development as anyone in the gym over the last year. I’m incredibly proud of both of them.

Cassandra Hackworth jumped in to team up with Jordan Zuidema within the last couple days and you wouldn’t have guessed that they were new to competing together. They fought all morning and came away on the podium with a strong 3rd place finish in Scaled.

Travis A Townsend stepped up a division for his first Rx competition and he and Alexis Caldwell Jones sold out and pushed themselves all the way to a 2nd place Rx finish. They got off to a tough start but rebounded quick once the heavy barbells started going up. Well done friends!!!

A huge thank you to Andrew Cline and everyone at Alpha Pack for another fun day of fitness. I’ve been to every Dawg Days since the beginning and they always put on a quality event.

Speaking of local comps - be sure to check out the NXT Level CrossFit Classic Nxt Level CrossFit Sept 19th and be on the lookout for information on Frost Fight 5 right here at CFB within the next couple weeks!

Our annual competition at CFB was forced to be cut in half in January. The women have already thrown down. The men will get their chance next Saturday April 25th!

Come out and cheer for your favorite teams, we’d love to see you! Action will start at 7:45am and Finals should wrap up around 1:00!

Athletes - A tentative Heat schedule is posted in Competition Corner. That will be finalized this weekend but I don’t envision it changing much, if at all.

See you soon!!!

Another CrossFit Open is in the rearview and I want to recognize everyone from CFB that took part. We had 45 official registrants in the biggest functional fitness competition in the world. To my knowledge it was the best turnout in CFBs history for the Open, and everyone not only came out and worked their faces off, but did it with impeccable standards and upheld the spirit of not only the Games, but CF in general. I’m incredibly proud of everyone who stepped into a slightly uncomfortable place and found what they were capable of this year.

127,116 men and 105,960 women from all over the world took part in the 3 week competition. From that total the top 25% will advance to a 5 day Quarterfinals competition, next week, March 26-30.

This was definitely the most competitors that we’ve had advance to QF. Everyone that does CrossFit does so for different reasons. I tell people all the time that while competing in the sport of CrossFit is not necessarily something everyone needs to do, it can be so good for you to step into that arena every once in a while. Some magic happened this year, as it always tends to do.

A huge congratulations to the following athletes that advanced to the next stage of competition. See you next week my friends.

Alexis Jones - Open Division & Masters
Amelia Greider - Open Division & Masters
Caitlin Setser - Open Division
Casey Owens Cooper - Open Division
Emilee Button - Open Division
Heather Brent - Masters
Jake Riggins - Open Division
Jeremy Dalton - Adaptive
Josie Whittaker - Open Division
Logan Marko - Open Division
Luke Fransen - Open Division & Masters
Lydia Cendana - Open Division
Mac Miller - Open Division
Travis Townsend - Open Division & Masters

**Looking for a gym to do The Open this year? CrossFit Barboursville is the Huntington areas only CrossFit Affiliate Gym, and we’d love to have you join us for this years test of fitness/community celebration. DM for info on joining us for Friday Night Lights or alternative options to get your scores entered without having to video and submit your workouts for review.**

It’s that time of year again. Some of you have several years of The Open to look back on. Some of you have been adjacent to The Open for a few years and maybe this year will be the year you fully jump in and join the party. Some of you have no idea what I’m talking about.

Give this a read - https://games.crossfit.com/article/what-crossfit-open-and-why-should-i-sign

Whether you have competetive aspirations or not, I encourage everyone to sign up for The Open. Many will say “Yeah I mean I’ll do the workouts but whatever…”. I promise you, stepping into an uncomfortable position once in awhile is so good for you. Jump in.

Another pair from our good friends at Boss Mentality CrossFit secured the final spot in a packed Women’s Rx division. These ladies round out a super exciting field of competetive ladies, I can’t wait to watch the fireworks on the 24th.

Lailani Holland Kious and Hannah Hunter are Late to the Party!

Mens Rx and Womens Masters still had open spots but registration closes Saturday. I’ll be working in heat times early next week.

18 days out… you ready?

We had a Womens Scaled team decide to jump up and grab the final Intermediate spot, which led to these ladies hopping from the waiting list into the starting lineup!

From CrossFit 304 - Madeleine Summers and Fernanda Delduque - The Kinetic Alliance!!

With this shuffle Women’s Intermediate and Scaled are both filled up. With the upcoming announcement Women’s Rx is full. We still have a few Women’s Masters spots available but registration ends this Saturday!
