This bobcat came to us from another taxidermist with quite a few issues. It had not been properly fleshed or turned, and I believe it had been dry preserved and allowed to dry before coming to us.
We decided to keep this cat in-house for tanning so I could monitor it closely and be ready to work with it immediately. That ended up being exactly what it needed.
Once it came out of the tan, we carefully worked through the hide and got it put together as quickly as possible so the drying process could begin and everything could set and lock into place properly.
This guy came very close to being unsalvageable several times, but we weren’t ready to give up on him. There was a lot of careful work involved in getting him back to a point where we could complete the mount, and I’m so glad we were able to save him and send him home looking like this!
