When dancers struggle with balance, the first instinct is often to practice balancing.
But balance isn’t just about standing on one foot. It’s influenced by strength, stability, control, coordination, and body awareness working together.
The best questions in dance aren’t always, “How do I do this?” Sometimes they’re, “Why is this difficult in the first place?”
When we understand the why, we stop chasing the outcome and start building the foundation that makes it possible.

Every movement has a foundation. Every correction has a purpose.
As dancers, we spend a lot of time learning what to do. But understanding why we do it is what creates lasting technique.
These are three questions worth asking. The answers go beyond a correction—they help us better understand how the body moves and why strong technique is built from the ground up.
My goal has never been to simply teach steps. It’s to help dancers understand the foundation behind them, because when you understand why, every movement has more purpose.
What dance question have you always wanted answered?

As Adaptive Movement grows, one thing continues to stand out… the connections being built along the way.
Watching siblings experience class together and share in the joy of dance has been one of the many reminders of what Adaptive Movement is all about.
Inclusion isn’t only about creating a space where everyone belongs. It’s about creating opportunities where every child is welcomed, supported, and encouraged to participate in their own way.
Sometimes the most meaningful part of class isn’t a dance step at all.

Thank you to the Huntington Center for Performing Arts for inviting me to be part of this year’s Summer Intensive.
It was such a joy working with this group of dancers during Conditioning & Strength and Jazz.
What stood out to me most wasn’t that everything came easily—it was that they didn’t give up when things became challenging or when they were learning something new. Even while stepping outside what was familiar, they continued to trust the ballet foundation they have been building. That foundation showed in their focus, discipline, and willingness to keep working.
Keep trusting your training, stay curious, and never stop growing.
