The Hobbs Island Shooting Range (HISR) is North Alabama’s Premiere outdoor shooting sports complex. The facility can accommodate a wide variety of fi****ms and archery related activities for everyone from beginner to expert marksmen. We have 4 separate fields of fire:
3 pistol/carbine action bays for move-and-shoot drills, drawing from the hip, and rapid fire exercises.
HISR also has a building that houses our training room, range office, pro-shop, and retail outlet. Long Walk Ordnance (LWO) is a full feature retail store that offers fi****ms, ammunition, personal protection gear, range bags, etc... They are a class 3 dealer and can be used to complete fi****ms transfers from other locations.
Aside from being a sport shooting facility, HISR can also accommodate non-shooting activities. Our training facility can also host regular social/business meetings. It can be rented by clubs, businesses, or individuals without regard to membership status. It can even be used to host events like weddings or graduation parties.
HISR also offers 6 RV bays, complete with electrical and water hook-ups. People can stay at the range overnight for very competitive rates and be able to enjoy the range over a weekend. We will also have an acre or larger pond on site where people may set up camp. This would also be a great place for scouting groups to hold camp nights and events relating to scouting.
There may be more activities than what is listed, as the membership and customer base will determine. The main consideration when deciding which activities will be permitted is safety. The mission of HISR is to provide a SAFE, Affordable, and Convenient place for sport shooting and other related activities.
