A little update from Warrior’s Hoof Haven. 🇺🇸

We’ve been a little quieter lately, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy.

Building Warrior’s Hoof Haven has been an incredible journey, but it has also required a tremendous amount of time, energy, and personal sacrifice.

For a long time, we’ve dedicated early mornings, late nights, weekends, and a lot of our own resources to building this organization and serving our veterans and their families.

As much as we believe in this mission, we also have to take care of our own family. My wife has returned to work, and with both of us working to keep up with our own bills and responsibilities, we simply don’t have the same amount of time we once did to dedicate to growing the organization.

So for now, things at Warrior’s Hoof Haven are going to move a little slower.

That doesn’t mean the mission is gone. It just means we’re going to be more intentional with our time, spend more of it with our family, and continue working on Warrior’s Hoof Haven when we’re able.

We’ll continue sharing updates when we can and doing what we can with the time and resources available to us.

To everyone who has donated, volunteered, shared our posts, supported our programs, or simply believed in what we’re trying to build, thank you! Your support has helped us make an incredible impact already! 🇺🇸🐴

A Quick Update from Warrior’s Hoof Haven 🐴🇺🇸

We’ve paused our monthly giveaways for the time being as we focus our resources on funding next year’s chicken and pig projects!

Our goal is to continue growing what we’re able to provide to veterans and families in need, and every dollar makes a difference!

At the same time, we’re looking for a couple of people to join our team!

We’re specifically looking for someone with event planning or fundraising experience, who can help us build and organize events that will allow Warrior’s Hoof Haven to continue growing and serving more veterans!

If you have experience and want to roll up your sleeves and help make a difference in veterans’ lives, we’d love to hear from you! 🇺🇸

Warrior’s Hoof Haven is a 100% volunteer organization. We currently have no salary budget and these positions are strictly volunteer!

Another weekly egg drop is in the books! 🥚🇺🇸

Yesterday we made our weekly delivery to the Truman VA Food Pantry to help keep the shelves stocked and make sure veterans have access to food, when they need it!🍗

After that, my wife made the trek down to Cabool, to VFW Post 473! We delivered the chicken we raised that was part of our spark grant! 🎉

We’re proud that this project not only helped us raise chickens and show our organization’s abilities, but also allowed us to help a fellow veteran organization serve their community! 🇺🇸

VFW Post 473 is also one of our chicken sponsors for the Truman VA, and we’re incredibly grateful for their support! 🐥🐓🍗

A HUGE thank you to my wife for making the long trip down and making the delivery happen! ❤️🚙

We had the chance to speak with his wife, Tammy, tonight and offer our condolences, during this difficult time. 💔

We've been made aware of his funeral arrangements and want to pass it along, if anyone would like to come support his burial, we hope to see you there! 🇺🇸

Micheal “Jay Bird” Keasler passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

Jay was born on January 17, 1958, in Plainview, Texas, to parents Bill and Margaret Keasler.

Jay proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Military Police officer and detective. During his service, he earned the Expert qualification with the r***e, pistol, machine gun, and hand grenades, reflecting his exceptional proficiency and dedication. He took great pride in serving his country and the lifelong friendships and experiences his military service provided.

On September 29, 2012, Jay married the love of his life, Tammy Snider, in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, during the Full Harvest Moon- a date that remained special to them throughout their years together.

Jay was a licensed pilot who truly lived to fly, finding both freedom and joy in the skies. He was also the proud owner and operator of Keasler Trucking, Inc., traveling millions of miles behind the wheel of his beloved semi-truck, “Betsy.” Rarely far from his side was his faithful canine companion, Elvis, who accompanied him on countless miles and adventures across the country.

Jay’s heart belonged to J-T Farm, the place he cherished most and where he found peace, purpose, and happiness. He found great joy in the simple, good things; Friday night cruises, antique cars and old tractors, tending to his frog pond like a cathedral, and forever perfecting his grilling skills, convinced that the next steak would be the best one yet!

Jay is survived by his best friend and wife, Tammy Keasler who was also his devoted caregiver; his mother, Ann Keasler Gibbs; his son Chance Keasler (Jodi); his daughters, Trinity Jae Moore (Tim), Tara Mae Lightner (Nathan), and Amanda Laughlin (Josh);and his son, Lee Snider (Kaity May); his cherished grandchildren, Charlee and Ada Keasler, Ambria, Gunner and Ryker Moore, Beck and Shae Lightner, and Jones and Monroe Laughlin, as well as numerous extended family and friends.

He also leaves behind his beloved fur children, Minnie Pearl, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Ellie Mae, and Good Sarah. Jay’s dogs and cats were never “just pets” but family who slept at his feet and rode shot gun in the truck.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Margaret Keasler; brother, Gary Keasler; and daughter, Amber Keasler; as well as his travel companion, Elvis.

Jay loved hard, worked hard and did everything his way. He will be deeply missed at J-T Farm. Above all friends and family will miss Jay’s gentle nature and sweet smile. Just knowing Jay made the world a better place.

A funeral service will be held Monday, August 10, 2026 beginning at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Pathway Millard Family Funeral Chapel, 411 Union Ave, Moberly, MO, 65270. Burial will follow with full military honors at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville, MO.
