Last night Legacy celebrated our 1st Birthday- yay! We had so much fun I forgot to take photos! We celebrated with many new friends and old friends alike! We could not have had such an amazing year without all our friends cheering us on. We thank you! Special thanks to the V Dance Academy family for taking a chance, giving us a space, and an extended family- we love you 💙 Emily-thank you for jumping in with both feet to build and instruct classes and be the 2nd in command! We couldn’t have done this without you. Thomas- thanks for supporting Emi in this challenging endeavor! We appreciate you BOTH for showing up!💜💜 to ITF America& Chris Poteet- thank you for giving us a standard to achieve and clear path forward. We very much appreciate your organization! ❤️Thanks to the teens who helped get everything setup and cleaned up last night. Yall are the BEST 💜💛🖤And to all of our Legacy TaeKwonDo Academy family- we truly appreciate your patience, dedication, and sense of humor over the past year. “Controlling your actions and reactions.” It is the 4th tenet of TaeKwonDo. Even our youngest students exemplified self-control at our recent rank testing, the first testing in which they’ve ever participated. They waited their turn patiently, quietly, and watched as each student did the same. All of them showed such growth since the beginning of their martial arts journey!

Wow! What a morning we had yesterday! Every student passed “with flying colors”!! In September we joined International Taekwondo Federation America and almost everything we knew about TKD changed. We knew the standards were different and very high. While we knew our students were capable, there were doubts that anyone would *want* to work as hard as would be needed. These students though? They knocked it out of the park! They TRULY embody the tenets of taekwondo! They encourage one another with lots of cheers and high fives, keep going when things are hard (and there’s been a lot of hard), their behavior in class is respectful and kind, they look for each other when someone is absent . They are just fantastic!

In addition to MANY colored belts, we awarded three 1st Dan belts. Over the last 6-8mo these 3 kiddos have taken all of their previous martial arts experience and worked in hyper drive to get their 1st Dan. They learned 10 forms, not knowing which ones they’d be required to perform at testing. They also learned new terminology, changes to “old” techniques, and new techniques all together.

Also, I need to brag on Mr.Cobert &Ms.Moody a little bit too! They have really poured their hearts and souls into these kids. They’ve created a positive classroom environment, full of laughter but also staying on task to get where they need to be. All of this while learning to balance the previous way of things and embracing the new. They are both passionate about growing martial artists and honoring the legacy of excellence
that they were given.

We have an incredible group of students who tested today! Some are just beginning their martial arts journey, some are a little farther down the road. But they ALL rose to the challenge today and we couldn’t be more proud! We look forward to watching them grow and progress! (More pictures to follow)
