I don’t normally post this type of content but, I feel this needs to be shared.
What I saw during this meeting was alarming to say the least.

Our Council Members are there to provide oversight and to protect the community and taxpayers from city government excess and irresponsible spending.

Last night’s Budget Hearing revealed at least one of these Council members understands the assignment.
This comes on the heels of a discussion concerning unsecured grant funding for a massive new project in Carey Park.

I encourage everyone take the time to watch the entire meeting for full context.

Pay attention folks!
Its budget season for the City of Hutchinson and the Parks Director has big plans for Carey Park. Before giving them free rein over our tax dollars, perhaps the Parks Director can explain how the 4th Avenue river access project, with a $40k price tag ($20k CFAP, $20k CoH) ballooned to well over $100k and yet, still managed to completely disregard ADA requirements for new municipal construction? It also appears that the CFAP grant, the cornerstone of the Director’s proposal, never materialized - leaving tax payers on the hook for the entire bill.🧐 Which would explain the complete and utter lack of planning and maintenance at this site.
