We are excited to share that our friends and supporters at Akiki Towing & Recovery have invited our students and families to ride on their parade float for the Dedham Flag Day parade! We will be gathering near the parade start (on East Street, near Dedham Middle School).
Tiny Tiger students may join, provided that they have a parent or designated adult to sit with them on the float and ensure that they can ride safely and stress-free. Junior and Teen students may be dropped off with their senseis, or parents may stay and watch the parade (and/or join us on the float, if space allows). Our Lil Dragon students are a little too small to safely ride the parade float, but are more than welcome to watch along the parade route with their adults!
If your student is riding on the float, please have them wear their full uniform OR One Step Beyond T-shirt and bring a water bottle. Demo team students do NOT need to bring sparring gear or training weapons.
If you have any questions, please email, text, or call us! Looking forward to a fun day on Sunday 🎆

NO CLASSES for the rest of the night (tonight, Tuesday 5/19) due to power outage! Getting too dark in the dojo to train (and outdoors is wet & thunder/lightning) so we’ll try again tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience! Stay dry and safe.

Congratulations to all! Students who have passed their test will be promoted this week and next week at the beginning of their classes. 🥋
Please note that if the student’s belt test is not yet fully completed, including their workout sheet and permission slip (with both parent/guardian and teacher signature) as well as successfully passing the dojo portion of their test, they will not be promoted and their name will not be added to the list until those are completed and turned in to an instructor. These sheets may be turned in via email as well to [email protected]!
Great job everyone!

This crew had a great weekend competing at TWO tournaments! They proudly represented Team One Step Beyond Boston in Salem, MA on Saturday at Whistlekick Martial Arts’s “Mommament” and in Springfield, MA at KRANE Ratings Inc. Grandmaster Paul Johnson’s Western Mass Open. 🥋
We enjoyed competing hard, judging, spending time with our martial arts family, and making new friends off the mats! Some performance highlights from the weekend included Sensei Marie winning the All Moms Grand Championship on Saturday as well as a strong showing in two Grand Championships on Sunday, Henry with a clean sweep in both his weapons and sparring divisions across both days, and Brohdy earning TWO 10.0’s on Sunday. Congratulations to Coach Jen, Ewan, Alex, and Noah on strong performances all weekend long as well! So proud of this crew and their hard work in the dojo to prepare.
On to the next!

Our team had two solid showings at both events and has been back in the lab training hard since. Proud of everyone’s hard work, resilience, and positive attitude — wether or not they achieved the desired outcome. As usual, we also enjoyed seeing our martial arts friends & family from other teams!
