Empire member highlight: Sunshine Shepherd! Sunshine just competed in her first ever strongman show and WON in the novice division. She’s smiling in literally every photo we have of her. Here’s what she has to say about her time at Empire:
“My first time walking into Empire was actually just for a tour during a Strongman Saturday after I moved from Pocatello to Idaho Falls. Scottie convinced me and my two sons to give the Atlas Stones a try for the very first time. I had always dreamed of competing in strongman someday, but it was one of those goals I kept tucked away in the back of my mind. That day always stuck with me as I started a membership at Empire.
What I love most about Empire is the community. From day one, I felt welcomed, encouraged, and challenged. Everyone genuinely wants to see each other succeed, no matter where they’re starting from.
Outside the gym, I’m a mom of three amazing kids, work full-time, and I’m working toward my doctorate. Balancing work, school, kids, and training is definitely a juggling act, but Empire has become the place where all those worlds come together. I’ve taken Zoom meetings in the sauna, finished chapters for class while walking on the treadmill, and even answered work calls between sets on the bench press. Sometimes you just have to make it work.
My kids have spent countless hours at the gym with me, and they love Empire just as much as I do. It’s become a second home for our family. They’re always asking, “Is it gym time yet?” and they’re some of my biggest motivators to keep showing up, even on the days when I’m tired. I love that there’s so many parents who bring their kids!
The gym isn’t just where I train, it’s my happiest place. It’s where I clear my mind, build confidence, and remind myself that I can do hard things. Empire helped turn a dream of competing in strongman into reality with the help of some amazing people that I met along the way! Everyone is so willing to teach you how to do lifts, fix form, or spot you! It really couldn’t get any better!”

Show happening at Empire on August 15th. This will be outside on the fenced in turf out back and a lot of fun (assuming you’re into hard music and some cardio by moshing). All proceeds go to a family in need. Shoutout Marky Mark Hamilton of the Empire for setting it up.

Okay strongmens and strongladies!! After YEARS of chasing these suckers down (because they’re as evasive as a 2 year old that’s stolen your phone on a FaceTime call) we finally securrd some of the long bois so you can safely toss the boats and the logs. When saw them available there was a visible tear in his eyes like the day his sweet baby was born (this is not confirmed). Most of the Cerberus stuff comes in a couple weeks and we ordered it a little while back, we just couldn’t hide it any longer.
