🎹 Interim Piano Accompanist Needed! 🎶

Imlay City Schools is seeking a talented and dependable Interim Choir/ICSPA Piano Accompanist to support our vocal music and performing arts programs.

The accompanist will work alongside our music staff and students, providing piano accompaniment for choir classes, rehearsals, concerts, festivals, auditions, and special events. This is a great opportunity for an experienced pianist who enjoys working with students and being part of a vibrant school music program.

These students are already hard at work bringing this hilarious, heartfelt, and wonderfully quirky musical to life. With two casts and four performances, audiences will have multiple opportunities to experience the joy, laughter, and unforgettable characters of the Bee!

🎭ICSPA TAKES ON BEETLEJUICE! 🎭

What an incredible way to spend a Saturday morning!

Today, six Imlay City Schools Performing Arts students traveled to the Wharton Center for an exclusive dance workshop with cast members from Beetlejuice the Musical!

The workshop was offered to students from schools participating in the Sutton Foster Awards, giving our performers the chance to learn choreography directly from working professional artists, experience the expectations of the industry, and dance alongside other young performers from across Michigan.

We are so proud of our students for continuing to say YES to opportunities that challenge them, inspire them, and help them grow as artists. These are the experiences that take performing arts education beyond the classroom and give students a glimpse into where their training can take them. ❤️

🌟 HUGE NEWS FOR IC PERFORMING ARTS! 🌟

We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate Nevaeh Ritten and Griffyn Fenner, who have been selected to perform with Broadway star Sutton Foster at the Wharton Center! 🎭✨

More than 100 talented students from across the state of Michigan submitted auditions, and Nevaeh and Griffyn were among the students chosen by the Wharton Center artistic team to join the ensemble for this very special concert.

What makes this moment even sweeter is the journey that brought them here. Last spring, Nevaeh and Griffyn represented Imlay City High School at the Sutton Foster Awards after their performances as Velma Kelly and Billy Flynn in Chicago: Teen Edition. Now their Sutton Foster experience continues with the extraordinary opportunity to take the stage alongside Sutton Foster herself! 🤩

Opportunities like this are about so much more than one performance. They give young artists the chance to work in a professional environment, learn from industry professionals, meet talented students from across Michigan, and experience firsthand where their training in the performing arts can take them.

Nevaeh and Griffyn, we are SO proud of you! Your talent, work ethic, courage, and commitment to your craft continue to open incredible doors. We cannot wait to see you represent Imlay City on the Wharton Center stage! 💙💛

🥁🎶 ARTS IN EDUCATION WEEK: STUDENT LEADERS IN ACTION! 🎶🥁

As we continue celebrating Arts in Education Week, we’re shining a spotlight on two students who quite literally lead from the podium!

Meet this year’s Spartan Marching Band Drum Majors:

⭐ Tyler Kaeding — Senior
⭐ Connor McCollum — Sophomore

Being a drum major is about so much more than standing in front of the band and conducting.

Tyler and Connor serve as student leaders for the Spartan Marching Band throughout the season. They conduct the band’s halftime show, lead the SMB in parades, and work alongside Mr. Pries to help teach marching technique as well as the musical and visual elements that bring the show to life.

That means learning how to communicate clearly, model excellence, support their peers, solve problems, accept responsibility, and lead a large group toward a shared goal.

That is arts education in action.

We are so proud of Tyler and Connor for the time, preparation, confidence, and leadership they bring to the Spartan Marching Band. We can’t wait to see them continue to lead this season!

🎭 CELEBRATING ARTS IN EDUCATION WEEK! 🎶💃🎨

This week, we’re celebrating National Arts in Education Week and the incredible role the arts play in the lives of our students.

At Imlay City Schools Performing Arts, we believe arts education is about so much more than putting on a great show.

Every day, our students are learning to communicate, collaborate, solve problems, take creative risks, manage deadlines, lead others, accept feedback, persevere through challenges, and contribute to something bigger than themselves.

They are actors, dancers, singers, designers, technicians, choreographers, stage managers, musicians, builders, leaders—and, most importantly, young people discovering what they are capable of.

Our classrooms and stages are places where students can find their people, develop confidence, build lifelong skills, explore career pathways, and experience the incredible feeling of working together to create something that none of them could create alone.

And as our Performing Arts program continues to grow, we are especially proud that our students aren't simply participating in the arts—they are helping lead and shape the future of our program.

Throughout this week, we’ll be sharing a little more about the students, opportunities, learning, and community that make arts education such an important part of Imlay City Schools.

Because the arts aren't an “extra.”

They are education. ❤️🎭

🎭 MEET YOUR TROUPE 10962 OFFICERS! 🎭

We are so excited to introduce the student leaders of Imlay City Schools Performing Arts Thespian Troupe 10962 for the 2026–27 school year!

And they are already getting to work! Before the season has even hit full stride, this team has been working together to formalize and codify our troupe constitution, redefine our mission statement, and make sure the vision of Troupe 10962 continues to align with the growing mission of the larger Imlay City Schools Performing Arts program.

What makes us most proud, though, is not simply what these students accomplish onstage. These six students are examples of the kind of people we want our program to help develop: hardworking, responsible, collaborative, creative, and committed to being excellent citizens of their school and community.

As our Performing Arts program continues to grow, strong student leadership matters more than ever. These officers will help shape troupe traditions, create opportunities for their fellow students, strengthen our theatre community, and ensure that student voice remains an important part of where our program goes next.

We are incredibly excited to see the ideas, energy, service, and leadership this group brings to Troupe 10962 this year. ❤️🎭
