Huge congrats to the new 2026 European Champion, Jeremy Brick! After losing in the first round last year, coming back from a major knee surgery, working his butt off months on end he comes back to claim what’s his. Nobody works harder than this man, nobody wants it more! First major title at black belt, many more to come!! We couldn’t be more proud and impressed by his performance and work ethic day in and day out. Congratulations CHAMPION! Soak in the moment!!! DOG!!! DONT WISH FOR IT, WORK FOR IT!!

Quick shouts to the boys who travelled down to Texas for the IBJJF Waco Open today! 3 competitors 6 GOLDS!!

Jeremy in his return from surgery makes a statement taking double gold! Rust?! What rust?? This dude didn’t take a day off. And I mean not a day, he hobbled in the day after surgery to be there to watch class. His disciple and determination is next to none. With this attitude and drive we cannot wait to see him back in the majors this upcoming year! Congrats, Jeremy!

Jason with his second double gold to start out purple belt! After dominating the KC open he returns with another strong performance in Waco! Not bad for a guy who never thought he would compete. It’s been a blessing to see who you become in the process! Pans championship… loading! Let’s go!

Round it out is Andy who won white belt pans this year, taking his first IBJJF at blue by storm! Way to break in that blue belt proper, only a small sample of what you’re going to do at this belt! DOGS!!!

Now that the dust has settled over the last two weekends we wanted to make a post about how proud of how our team finished this year off!

11/ 09 Tac Team was able to secure both team titles at the IBJJF KC Open, winning the gi title for the 3rd consecutive year! Pirata Jiu jitsu brought a strong team bringing championships back home from Juvenile blue/ white- all the way to black belt, including mulitple double gold performances from our colored belts! VavaPirata Team represented Tac Team to the fullest dominating the brackets throughout.

11/ 15 Just as impressive, the Pirata Jiu Jitsu kids crew dominated the weekend following winning the Kids Team title at the AGF KC Nationals, so much so the kids almost won us the overall title (kids and adults combined) without a single adult competing for the team at this competition! They showed up and showed out! They work hard and we are happy for them to see the fruits of their labor.

Extra shoutout to Sophie, Eliyahu and Jace for their strong performances and victories in the challenger final streamed on Flo inside the pit! What an incredible experience for the kids and strong finish to the day!

Way to get after it team, the coaches couldn’t be more proud and impressed by your performances. Though NOT SUPRISED! You put the work in and EARNED IT! Congrats!!

A special shoutout and congratulations to an incredible young man, Xander aka Coach Pirata’s “Mini Me” on receiving his well earned and deserved blue belt last night. Xander is a model student on and off the mats. Not only does he work hard for himself, but he lifts up every single person in the room with him. A true shining light in our gym, always a positive attitude and ready to get after it every single day. We couldn’t be more proud of the of this “kid” and the example he has set and continues to set for the ones coming up behind him. Congratulations, Xander! Time to run with the big dogs!!

After today’s AGF in Wichita we capped off a solid month of April for the competition squad!

Today’s results at the AGF- 4 kids competitors coming back with 8 golds, 4 silvers and a bronze, as well as a new grey belt! Congrats, Meatball and the team for an incredible performance!

A few weeks ago at the ADCC Oklahoma Open finished what he started last year and came back for Gold in his weight class, securing our first ADCC Open champion! He’s on a heck of a run right now, awesome performance!

Starting April off we headed out to the IBJJF Chicago Open with both kids and adults, made even more special having VavaPiratas co head coach from step back into competition after 6 years take gold in his weight class and 2nd in the absolute! Dog!

jumps back into the adult division this time at black belt cruising to a gold medal! One of the best female grapplers in the 🌎 and she keeps proving it!

jumps back into the fire claiming gold in her weight class as well with a dominant performance! These girls are built different no doubt!

Topping off Chicago Open bringing back two more gold medals and a silver for the kids crew adding to our list of kids to claim an IBJJF title! Up next for the IBJJF circuit for them, KIDS PANS! Can’t wait!
