Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001, a day that forever changed our nation.

We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day in New York City, at the Pentagon and aboard Flight 93. We honor the first responders who ran toward danger, the families who endured unimaginable loss and the countless acts of courage and compassion that followed.

But the legacy of September 11 did not end that day.

In the years that followed, millions of American service members answered the call to serve, joined by civilian federal employees and contractors whose work took them around the world. Thousands gave their lives. Tens of thousands were wounded. Many more returned home carrying physical and emotional scars that may never fully heal. Their families served and sacrificed alongside them.

Twenty-five years later, we remember all those whose lives were forever changed by September 11 and the years that followed.

We remember those we lost.
We honor those who served.
We remain grateful for those who sacrificed.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

🚧 South Patrick Drive Construction Update

We have an important update regarding the traffic pattern at South Patrick Drive and Banana River Drive.

🚦 Left Turn at Banana River Drive

The traffic study regarding the left turn onto Banana River Drive from South Patrick Drive has been completed by FDOT. The study determined that a dedicated left-turn traffic signal would improve traffic operations at the intersection.

The new traffic signals are scheduled to be installed Thursday night, with the new traffic pattern beginning Friday morning.

The FDOT project team will closely monitor the intersection following the change to make sure the new traffic pattern is functioning as designed and determine whether any adjustments are needed.

🚧 Project Progress

Work continues on the approximately 600 feet of new piping being installed in this area. Approximately 260 feet has been completed so far, putting crews nearly halfway through this portion of the project.

Once the piping work is complete, the intersection will be reopened. Approximately 4–6 weeks of work are currently estimated to remain, although the project team is optimistic this phase could be completed by the end of September or first week of October.
