Dom Shimko’s Clutch Hitting Propels Homer-Center Varsity Wildcats To Victory Over MMI Preparatory School Varsity Preppers

Dom Shimko drove in six runs on three hits to lead Homer-Center Varsity Wildcats past MMI Preparatory School Varsity Preppers 21-1 on Thursday at Bald Eagle Area Junior-Senior High School. Shimko doubled in the second scoring three, singled in the first scoring two, and singled in the first scoring one.
Homer-Center Varsity Wildcats won thanks in part to 17 runs in the first inning. Eli Turk drew a walk, scoring one run, Drew Fisher drew a walk, scoring one run, Collin Dunn singled, scoring three runs, Chase Shoup drew a walk, scoring one run, Brayden Rado was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Nash Budner singled, scoring one run, Shimko singled, scoring one run, Turk was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Dunn was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Connor Deyarmin was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Matt Zerfoss singled, scoring one run, Rado drew a walk, scoring one run, Budner drew a walk, scoring one run, and Shimko singled, scoring two runs.
A single by Rado, and a double by Shimko helped Homer-Center Varsity Wildcats extend their early lead in the second.
Budner earned the win for Homer-Center Varsity Wildcats. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and one run over three innings, striking out six and walking two.
Homer-Center Varsity Wildcats collected nine hits in the game. Rado and Budner each collected multiple hits for Homer-Center Varsity Wildcats. Turk led Homer-Center Varsity Wildcats with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up 12 walks for the game. Homer-Center Varsity Wildcats were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Rado made the most plays with six.
Gavin Serock and Caleb Skuba were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for MMI Preparatory School Varsity Preppers. Derek Radzwich led MMI Preparatory School Varsity Preppers with one run batted in. Andrew Pedri stole two bases. MMI Preparatory School Varsity Preppers were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Serock made the most plays with two.

Brady Oakes was dominant on the mound, as the hurler rang up 10 strikeouts in Indiana Varsity Indians's 10-0 victory over Hopewell Varsity Vikings on Thursday. Oakes gave up zero hits and zero runs over six innings while walking two.
Indiana Varsity Indians scored seven runs in the second inning on the way to victory. Ben Cowburn doubled, scoring two runs, Ethan Shank singled, scoring two runs, Charlie Manzi doubled, scoring two runs, and Sully VanHoose doubled, scoring one run.
Ben McDonald took the loss for Hopewell Varsity Vikings. The southpaw went one and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on four hits, striking out three and walking three.
Indiana Varsity Indians accumulated 11 hits in the game. Manzi and VanHoose were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Indiana Varsity Indians while hitting back-to-back. Shank drove the middle of the lineup, leading Indiana Varsity Indians with three runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-4 on the day.
Hopewell Varsity Vikings didn't commit a single error in the field. Charles Smetana had the most chances in the field with eight.
