12 teams competed over the weekend at the 2025 8 Ball Regatta. The ISC 8 Ball has been an early season opener for Thistles in the Midwest for 53 years! A perfect way to shake off the winter rust and get excited for racing!
Weather this year limited us to just 4 races. Saturday served up challenges for the skippers and crews with light winds out of the North from 0 to 7 mph, with big compass swings kept everyone on their toes. Steve and Erin Lavender won the day with two firsts.
On Sunday the winds picked up to the mid-teens. Several teams did not race on Sunday. Opening up the leader board for changes.
Noah Craciun, with crew Joe Goetz from the Berlin Yacht Club took the lead with 2 firsts. Bryant Walker with crew Sheena Walker & Mat Allemang scored a 2nd and 3rd.
Congrats to Noah and Joe for the regatta win! 🏆 Just one point behind in a very close 2nd - Bryan, Sheena, and Matt.

ISC's Thistle Fleet 69 hosted a gathering of the clan at Max & Tilly's to plan out the start of our 2025 sailing season. Fleet 69 of the Thistle Class Association has been around since 1955, one of the founding sailboat fleets at the Indianapolis Sailing Club. Fleet Captain Dave Charlton and his son Jack picked up a second in the 2024 Fleet Championship. The dress code of the day was plaid, and Dave went even further with his kilt. Way to go Dave - a fearless leader indeed to wear a kilt on a 32 degree day!
