Fifty years old. Over a decade building RCS. One very specific wardrobe.

Yesterday, our team surprised co-founder Justin McKay on his 50th birthday by showing up to the office...as Justin McKay

That's the kind of culture he's built. That's the company we're proud to be.

Happy 50th to the man who started it all. We're grateful for the mission, the culture, and the fashion inspo.

You sterilize the instruments. You wash the hands. You follow the protocol.

But the lead apron that's been on 12 different techs this week? Still on the hook.

X-ray garments are the most-touched, least-cleaned PPE in most OR settings. 84% test positive for Staph aureus and ringworm. And most facilities have no formal program to address it.

That's where we come in. Deep cleaning, x-ray inspection, inventory tracking, all of it managed for you.

If you've closed every other gap in your infection control protocol, this one's worth a conversation.

Labor Day means something a little different in healthcare.

The floors don't just go quiet. The schedules don't pause. The people who chose this work just keep showing up, holiday or not.

To every clinician working today: this one's for you. We're grateful to serve the teams who never stop.

Happy Labor Day!

173 healthcare workers were asked about their lead aprons.
78% said they'd worn one that was visibly soiled.
48% admitted they'd never spot cleaned theirs.
27% worked in departments where aprons were never cleaned at all.

This wasn't a fringe study. These were practicing clinicians, people who know what infection control means, describing their actual reality.

The problem isn't awareness. It's infrastructure.
Nobody handed them a system that made proper apron hygiene easy, trackable, or anyone's job.

That's the gap RCS closes.

If any of those numbers sound familiar, send us a message!

When a Joint Commission surveyor asks "When was this lead apron last inspected?", what happens next?

For most departments, it's a scramble. A binder in a supply closet. A logbook nobody's touched since spring. Sometimes, no answer at all.

RadComply exists for that exact moment.

Every garment.
Every service record.
Every x-ray inspection image.
One click away.

Compliance shouldn't depend on someone finding the right binder in time. It should just be there.

If your team can't answer that question in under a minute, RadComply can fix that before your next survey.

"We don't want to be served. We want to serve."

That's how our RCS co-founder Justin McKay answered the question he gets asked most, in a new conversation on The Edge podcast about leadership, culture, and why RCS exists in the first place.

Numbers matter. Growth matters.
But they're the byproduct, not the mission.

Proper care extends X-ray garment life 1.5–2x.

That's not a guess, that's what we see first hand.

Most departments treat lead aprons as a "buy and forget" line item. But garments that get regular cleaning and repair last significantly longer than ones that don't.

This means fewer replacements, less unplanned spend, and a lot less scrambling when survey season hits.

Repair + cleaning isn't overhead.
It's how you cut replacement costs before they happen.

RCS co-founder Justin McKay joined The Edge podcast to talk about why RCS company does what it does.

His answer: we want to serve, not be served.

That shows up in the clinicians who trust us with the garments that keep them safe every shift.

It shows up in the communities our team calls home.

And it shows up within the walls of our office.

Every garment we service, every scan we run, every partnership we build is a chance to actually help somebody.

How dirty do X-ray garments actually get between cleanings? We set out to find real answers.

We traveled to an IDN-affiliated hospital network in Central Indiana and collected 97 X-ray garments from the Operating Room, Outpatient Surgery Center, and Radiology Department.

Before any servicing took place, 25 garments were randomly selected and tested using ATP testing; a rapid method that detects live biological presence on surfaces.

The pre-service average: 17,832 RLUs.

For context, the facility also swabbed a toilet seat that day. It measured 13,241 RLUs...lower than the average lead apron in active use.

After RadCare's deep cleaning and disinfection process, post-service testing showed an average of 0 RLUs

Four months later, follow-up testing on garments from the Operating Room showed RLUs levels had climbed back to 16,784...once again exceeding the toilet seat benchmark.

The takeaway: X-ray garments in active clinical use accumulate contamination quickly, often without any visible sign.

RadCare Services recommends quarterly deep cleaning for all lead garments, consistent with AORN and CDC guidance for high-touch equipment.

Documented testing. Verified results.
