Wet. Hot. Exciting. 😂

That’s how Bailey describes working in aquatics at the VMCC. She’s cross-trained as a lifeguard, aquatics manager and swim instructor, and says working in different roles has given her a whole new perspective, from working with kids to navigating stressful situations.

And when we asked what she’d say to someone thinking about applying?

“Do it!”

We’re hiring for virtually all of our aquatics positions, with flexible part-time hours:

🏊 Lifeguards, ages 15+
🏊 Aquatics managers, ages 18+
🎉 Birthday party hosts and pool attendants, ages 15+
🏊 Swim instructors, both certified and non-certified, ages 15+

Hey. Us again. 👋 We’re still looking for a Preschool Flag Football instructor, and we could really use your help!

We had an instructor lined up, but they unexpectedly had to back out at the very last minute. The kids are already signed up, they’re excited to play, and we REALLY want to make this program happen for them. 🏈

So, who are we looking for?

Someone with football experience who enjoys working with kids ages 4–6 and has some free time on Saturday afternoons this fall. Maybe you’re someone who loves football. Maybe you’re a parent, coach, former player, or grandparent who’d love to spend five Saturday afternoons making football fun for a bunch of little ones. We’re open to all the above!

🏈 Part-time seasonal position
✅ Ages 18+
📅 Saturdays, Sept. 19-Oct. 17
⏰ 1:30-2:30 p.m.
🌤️ Outdoors
💰 $15.31-$18.59/hour

We’re extending the application through this weekend and are hoping to have someone in place by Monday.

The playgrounds at Ernster Park and Salem Hills Park are more than 20 years old and are proposed to be replaced in 2027 as part of the City’s Capital Improvements Plan.

Upcoming Pool Maintenance 🛠️

The water park and hot tub will be closed for annual maintenance and deep cleaning Monday, September 14 through Sunday, September 20.

Open swim will not be offered September 18-20.

The lap pool and dive well will remain available during the maintenance closure.

Before heading to the Veterans Memorial Community Center, please check ighmn.gov/OpenSwim for the most current open swim schedule.

We’re wrapping up the food truck festival season with an IGH Days Food Truck Festival next Thursday. Grab dinner, a sweet treat and your favorite people (and pups!) and join us for a delicious evening in the VMCC parking lot.

🌭 10+ local food trucks
🐶 Leashed, well-mannered dogs are welcome
🎯 Giant yard games and free family-friendly activities
🪑 Bring a lawn chair or blanket, or grab a spot at one of our picnic tables
