Founded in 2006, Soccer Sundays is a safe, competitive, and fun weekly coed soccer game open to anyone who would like to join. Come play one Sunday, or come play every Sunday; It's free and there's no commitment required. I recommend getting to the field early if you don't want to be a sub.

We play free, coed pickup games every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:00 P.M. and Sunday at 12:00 P.M., rain or shine. Bring a white and dark shirt to every game (no grey!). RSVP System:
The day before each game, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, I will ask everyone who plans to be at the game the following day to RSVP by clicking the heart symbol next to the corresponding day. If you click the heart, and then realize you can't be there, click the heart again to remove your RSVP. If you don't plan to be there, you don't have to do/say anything. Only RSVP if you plan to play. RSVPing does not save you a spot. You still need to be one of the first 24 to get to the field.
Pickup Game Rules:
1. Games are open to everyone, regardless of skill level.
2. The first 24 players to the field will play. The rest will be subs. Subs will wait for a player to be done playing before they enter the game. If you're a sub, keep track of who got there before you and after you so we can stay in order. If we have enough subs, we will form a side game if we have field space.
3. We call our own fouls and offsides. If you get fouled, please yell, "FOUL!" If you're calling offside, please yell, "OFFSIDE!" That way we know to stop the game. We do not call illegal throw-ins. Slide tackling is allowed, but please be careful and keep it clean. Everything else goes according to FIFA rules as closely as possible.
4. A water break will be given approximately halfway through the game. You can play for as long as you want and take as many water breaks as you want though.
5. If a player appears to be injured, we will call for a timeout. Upon resuming the game, the ball will be played back to the keeper of the team who had possession.
6. If you leave before the game officially ends, let me know. That way I can make sure the teams are even.
7. Yellow cards, red cards, suspensions, and/or permanent bans will be given at my discretion. If you receive a yellow card, you will sub out for 5 minutes. If you receive a red card, you will leave the game for that day. Two yellow cards equal a red card. I rarely give out yellow/red cards and I try to be as fair as possible. If you witness anyone doing/saying anything I should be aware of for disciplinary purposes, alert me immediately.
8. If a starter does not have a white or dark shirt, the first sub will be given their spot.
Game Information:
Tuesdays and Thursdays kick off at 7:00 PM and Sundays start at 12:00 PM. The field update will be posted in the GroupMe approximately 30 minutes before every game starts. We won't know which field will be available until the day of the game. No one is allowed to be at the field on Sundays before I send the field update at 11:30 A.M., except those who check fields and message me. The parking lot is fine. If you check a field, you get added to the sign-in sheet.
Risk and Liability Waiver:
By joining this pickup game, you are voluntarily agreeing to the following terms:
1. Assumption of Risk
Soccer is a physical contact sport. By playing, you acknowledge and assume all inherent risks, including but not limited to: collisions, falls, injuries from equipment or field conditions, and the potential for serious injury or death. You certify that you are physically fit and have no medical conditions that would make participation unsafe.
2. General Release of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you hereby RELEASE, WAIVE, AND DISCHARGE the group organizers from any and all liability for personal injury, property damage, or wrongful death caused by ordinary negligence.
3. Field & Conduct Agreement
Inspection: You agree to inspect the field before play and will notify organizers of any hazards.
Rules: You agree to follow all group rules and City of Irvine Park Policies.
Minors: Any participant under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who has reviewed and accepted these terms on their behalf.
BY TAKING THE FIELD AND PARTICIPATING IN THIS ACTIVITY, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTOOD, AND VOLUNTARILY AGREE TO THIS RELEASE OF LIABILITY.
Disclaimer for City and School District Employees:
"Soccer Sundays - Irvine" is designated as an informal, walk-on group. We have expressed written permission to use city and school district fields. We do not have referees, uniforms, or spectators. As such, we are not considered an "organized group". Therefore, we are not required to have a reservation to use city fields, nor a permit for school district fields. Any and all unwanted contact from city and/or school district officials and/or law enforcement will be deemed as harassment and documented for legal purposes. We are aware of and in compliance with city and school district rules and regulations.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 15 years since our 15 minutes of fame on the cover of the LA Times Sports Section! Thank you all for keeping our free, coed games going strong since 2006.
