January energy starts high.
January follow-through is… inconsistent.
This week is about closing that gap.
Stay close. Structure is coming.

I’ve never considered myself a high-level or elite athlete.
Growing up, I gravitated toward track and cross country for a simple reason: no cuts. Everyone was welcome. No tryouts. No gatekeepers.

I found leadership in those sports—but not scholarships. I wasn’t fast enough to run in college. I didn’t make the high school basketball team. There was no moment where someone said, “Yep, this is your thing.”

What I HAVE done over the last 30 years is show up.
I’ve protected my fitness. I’ve stayed close to my personal bests. I’ve treated every workout not as a breakthrough moment, but as a brick laid on top of another brick.

This weekend at HYROX Anaheim, Anthony and I finished 2nd in our age group—not because of talent, but because of time. Consistency. Reps. Belief that fitness is for everyone willing to keep showing up.

Fitness isn’t reserved for the gifted.
And it definitely doesn’t happen overnight.

We’re just layering bricks.
All day—especially when it gets hard.

Nothing simulated about the sweat 💦 The Hybrid XT crew went full throttle today with our HYROX race simulation — from SkiErgs to sleds, burpees to wall balls, and everything in between. 🏋️‍♂️🏃‍♀️🔥 Huge props to everyone who showed up, pushed limits, and proved what teamwork and grit look like. ”

It speaks to all of us and our individual beginnings, to finding the the bravery to step to the start line in pursuit of our unique finish line.
Life is the best teacher that what is worth it must be worked for and each day can feel like it’s own workout on the path to self improvement. When the daily grind feels like too much, remember:
