Penn State Football OL Landon Tengwall started his career playing , scoring four goals in his first Junior Olympics at 9 years old in the 12U division. This comes as no surprise given his father Chris Tengwall was on the first non-Californian team to win a Junior Olympics title in 1988.
Landon's father, Chris, played water polo in high school with two future U.S. Olympians, Brad Schumacher and Wolf Wigo. Schumacher and Wigo went on to found KAP7 International, Inc. in 2004.

With beginning today, we are honored to recognize several members of the community who have and continue to make an impact on our sport.
First up, we highlight Women's National Team Goalkeeper, Fana Fuqua. Fuqua hails from Menlo Park, CA where she was first introduced to water polo around 1994 when she and a group of friends saw a Central Coast Section (CCS) CIF playoff game before heading to their swim practice. She and her teammates were eager to play the sport and asked their high school administration for guidance in forming a team. One year later, there was an entire girls CCS league. Fuqua continued her water polo career at Cal Berkeley where she began as a field player and was later moved to the goalie position. Throughout her tenure with Cal Fuqua recorded over 300 saves with the Bears, named the MPSF Goalie of the Year and was named first-team All-American.
Fuqua went on to play for the Women's National Team and has continued to stay entrenched in the sport through various clubs including the UNSW Killer Whales (AUS league), Oakland Water Polo Club, Peninsula Water Polo and the Golden Bear Water Polo Club to name a few. Currently, Fuqua is collaborating with USA Water Polo to bring new water safety and water polo programs online in underserved communities. The first clinic launched January 28th in Clayton County, Georgia at the Steve Lundquist Pool.

Effective January 1, 2023, The Pac-12 will support Pac-12 student-athletes who train to compete at the Paralympic Games or other elite Para athletic competitions. One notable student-athlete on the Pac-12 Student-Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) is former player Sydney Barta. A 2020 Paralympic Games competitor, Stanford student and now track & field athlete, Barta participated in the with the Navy Water Polo club team.
