What is this foal doing?

He is clacking! Clacking is something that younger horses will practice with older horses (other than their mother). It is a submissive sign, signalling to the older horse that they’re not aggressive. It’s basically the way a young horse says “I’m just a baby! Don’t hurt me!”

Clacking is most often seen with foals, and yearlings, but horses up to age five may practice clacking when approaching an older, more dominant horse.

Born March 30, 2026
Microchipped with a biotherm chip

HP The Cowboy x Tullore Bay Lady

Very sweet and gentle c**t out of one of my Irish imports and by a stallion that I raised and sold as a weanling! This c**t is super laid back and easy going. He has very nice feather, just like both of his parents. He has interspersed white hairs throughout his coat. This boy is so kind. He can be gelded before he leaves and he will be gelded this winter if he is not sold prior.

I need some ideas.

Several months back, we stopped with Rhys at a cemetery after doing some driving to let him stretch his legs (I promise this is going somewhere). He was about 2 1/2 at that time. Since then, he has wanted to visit cemeteries with me when we pass by them. He has learned where he should and shouldn’t walk, how to water the flowers, and he enjoys looking for tractors on the gravestones, toys, and pinwheels.

Across the road from one of my pastures is a small cemetery, and buried in that cemetery is a little girl who loved horses. Her gravesite has many flowers and a little bench to sit on and stepping stones to walk across and whimsical little trinkets and pinwheels, which he likes. He is three so he doesn’t really understand death, but he knows a little girl is buried there and he has seen her picture on the headstone.

Because the pasture is just across the street, I’ve thought about having Rhys bring her something related to the horses she loved. I initially planned to buy a little toy horse he could set at her grave, but the more I thought about it, the more it settled in my mind that plastic doesn’t make the world more beautiful. And that I have all these beautiful horses, and lots and lots of horsehair.

So it occurred to me to make her some sort of something out of horsehair. But what? The things people sell don’t make sense. She can’t use a keychain or wear a necklace or bracelet. And to be honest, I’m not good at intricate braiding. The burned horsehair pottery is neat, but I don’t think that would appeal to a six year old girl, nor to my three year old son.

Can you send me your ideas? I don’t know her family at all and I don’t know where they live, although they must be close since her grave is kept. I’m not very creative when it comes to crafts, so I need some inspiration ❤️
