As we continue recognizing America 250, we also celebrate the fact that Mississippi is the Birthplace of America's Music. There was no better way to honor that legacy than with a tribute to the legendary Jackson Southernaires.

This time last week, we honored an incredible man, Min. David R. Curry, Jr. whose visionary leadership and musical excellence helped create one of Mississippi’s most celebrated and influential gospel institutions, the Mississippi Mass Choir. He received the inaugural MY CITY JXN IMPACT Award and a Lifetime Achievement Award for his global influence in Gospel Music! Congratulations!
We also honored two more MY CITY JXN Impact recipients:
Marcus Singleton (Marcus Singleton) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to gospel music as a musician, producer, arranger, worship leader, and mentor. From his early recording work with the Mississippi Mass Choir while still in high school to his continued service in churches, studios, and live music settings, Marcus has helped shape and sustain one of Mississippi’s most powerful musical traditions. He’s recorded, produced and arranged for countless artists and can even be found as a producer in Dulaneyland, Todd Dulaney’s production company. His excellence, humility, and influence represent the spirit of the sounds from Mississippi that helped shape America’s story.
Cornelius Moore (C.C. Moore) , recognition of his extraordinary contributions as a bassist, recording musician, producer, and ambassador for Mississippi music. Through his work with gospel choirs, quartet groups, Southern Soul artists, and contemporary recording and Country projects, his musicianship has helped preserve and advance the rich musical traditions that have made Mississippi known around the world. His influence can be heard across generations of recordings, performances, and ministries that continue to inspire audiences everywhere.
Thank you all for shining a light on your Capital City, MY CITY JXN!
