Walk Jackson Week 2: This week’s trail is the sidewalk between Symphony Dr and the Jackson Middle School/Rosebud Dr along Independence St/Route D.

The sidewalks and walking trails offer a safe way to travel around our city with minimal walking on roadways. The goal is to connect neighborhoods with key areas of the city, our parks and our schools.

The highlight for this route is a future project to connect the neighborhoods around the Jackson Middle School with the school.
To that end, the city has a project in design with Smith and Company to add sidewalks and a crosswalk across Independence near Rosebud Dr.

Look for the Walk Jackson 2026 sign near the proposed location of the crosswalk on the south side of Independence Street/Route D. Park and walk from either the band shell/skate park parking lot in the City Park or at Jackson Middle School.

Don’t forget to post a picture with the sign and include so city staff can see it.
