First I want to thank Larry for all of the hard work he's put into our youth program. I knew this position came with a lot of tasks and I still underestimated this title. You have helped me tremendously and I appreciate you. The dedication and commitment to our community will never go unnoticed. I hope we can continue to progress the groundwork you have laid out for us. Thank you!

My name is Rocky Keeling, the new president of Northwest youth football. I have been on the board the last couple years as the equipment manager. I also have coached at the youth level. I currently coach defense for 7th grade. I also have shadowed the varsity and learned how they run everything at that level. I'm very passionate about Northwest football and growing our program. My vision is to do all I can to get our athletes ready to one day win a state championship! I am an open book and always available to listen to new ideas to improve our program. I am also here to answer any questions you have and promise to get back to you as soon as possible.

VOLUNTEERS
Each youth home game we will need volunteers for:
Clock
Scout
Announcer... some dates are covered
Chain gang
Banner(kids run through at the beginning)
Clean up(the last team that plays)

Varsity home games we need 8 people to help with tickets at the gate. We supply these volunteers in exchange to use the field at no cost to our youth program. Tickets are only taken until half time and then your done. 4 people on home side and 4 people on away side. This year we are going cashless so it should be a lot easier.

PHYSICALS/ REGISTRATION FEE
If you do not have your physical form turned in, you can not begin conditioning. If you have not paid your registration fee, we will allow you to do conditioning but you will not receive equipment until you are paid.

TEAM PARENT OR PARENTS
We believe having these parents that can answer questions or organizing things allows coaches to stay focused on coaching the athletes. This is not a must but would be beneficial to the team

CULTURE
We want to continue to grow our culture here at northwest. That is to work hard and have fun doing it. This includes staying focused at practice so your athlete can get as many reps as possible.
This includes playing whatever position your coach needs you at to benefit your team. Your position will change 10 more times by the time your athlete graduates.
This includes not counting how many wins/ losses you have this season but how much you have grown as a football player this season.
This includes not asking the coach why you are not getting as much playing time as you want, but asking the coach what can I do to get more playing time.

24 HOUR RULE
Please allow yourself 24 hours before approaching a coach after games. One reason is it makes our community look bad. Second reason is we don't want the kids listening to that conversation that are walking off the field. If you don't feel pleased with the conversation after the 24 hours, you can reach out to me and have a conversation.

EQUIPMENT TURN IN
We provide 3 or 4 dates for equipment turn in every year and we still lose a big portion of our equipment. This is one of the main reasons our registration fee continues to grow. My main focus every year will be to lower the cost, especially for those with multiple children playing, but turning in equipment is essential. If we get low end gear, it costs $70 for shoulder pads, $100 helmet, and $50 for pants. That's our registration fee before any other costs. We lose money every time one person doesn't turn in equipment. So starting this year if you don't turn in your equipment, you will not be able to play next year(including middle school) So, please do not leave equipment for coaches to turn in.

REGISTRATION NEXT YEAR
Registration next year will be a month earlier. Right now we are running into issues with scheduling with the league because we are one of the last teams to close registration. There will be a hard cut off next season so please don't wait until the last second to register. If you can't pay, we can accept payment before practice begins. Getting registered is important.

Reminder. Tomorrow(Aug 10th) is first day of equipment hand out and conditioning (behind upper elementary). You NEED a copy of your physical in order to participate. If you have not paid yet, you can do conditioning but you will not get equipment until you have paid. Equipment handout tomorrow is for 5th and 6th grade. 530-6 and if you can't make it in time, you can get equipment after conditioning. Please make sure your athlete has cleats or tennis shoes and plenty of water. Wednesday we will hand out equipment for 3rd and 4th grades.

I will do an introduction and go over a few things as the coaches start conditioning. At this time we can answer any questions you have about this season.
