OSHA extends comment period on new rules for reporting workplace injuries at the request of National Association of Home Builders. For complete details see the coverage at https://www.osha.gov/pls/oshaweb/owadisp.show_document?p_table=NEWS_RELEASES&p_id=25353
Make sure your offices and home building partners are heard. Most importantly, just be safe.
How safe were you today?
You are the expert multi-tasker, texting, instagram, on the phone and driving. "Hold on just a minute" as you clear two more calls. Busier and busier piling on more and more "to do" items, running late, driving faster, re-scheduling, never enough time in the day.
Is your life worth 5 seconds?
1 Second - look outside before you walk outside.
1 Second - look behind yourself as you walk to your car.
1 Second - look around your car as you stop at red lights and stop signs.
1 Second - look in all directions before exiting your vehicle.
1 Second - look behind yourself as you walk from the car to the house.
This is the famous 5-Second rule Andrew Wooten created. Many of you heard it before -- some of you heard it the for the first time as you read this post. So the next time you are too busy or running late or trying to maximize your performance working longer and longer hours, ask yourself -- is your life worth 5 seconds?
Just be safe,
Leo

Andrew's brother and friend
Hello All,
It is hard for me to believe my brother and best friend Andrew has been gone nearly 1 year. We all have our favorite memories of him. Recognizing how he touched so many lives in such deep and positive ways, I am committed to making a movie about Andrew and his life.
Help us show the world how special Andrew's life was.
(1) share your favorite stories, photos and videos with Andrew by sending them to [email protected]
(2) Friend / Like the Community Safety Foundation and post your favorite Andrew story on our page.
(3) Tell us how you want to help make the movie, Andrew's movie.
We are continuing his work teaching safety, but we also need to honor his wish for all of us: to find the passion in our lives and be happy.
This page will be taken down soon. Help us keep his memory alive for all to see at the Community Safety Foundation and in the movie of his life.
God bless all,
Leo Ramos

Wishing everyone a very happy Thanksgiving full of family, friends, fun and food! And before you head out, here are some safety tips for Black Friday.
Andrew
Black Friday Safety
1. Avoid carrying things you don’t need. Don’t carry large amounts of cash. Carry only your driver’s license, a small amount of personal checks and only the necessary credit and debit cards. If you must carry a purse, carry it tightly under your arm.
2. Keep your wallet safe. Carry your wallet in a front pocket, not in your back pocket. Always have your hand on our wallet when it’s out. Never leave it lying on a counter.
3. Be careful with your packages. Keep your packages safe when eating in mall food courts. Put high dollar shopping bags into plain, non-descriptive bags. Do not go to the parking lot and put your packages in the trunk or back seat and then return inside. You need to move your car to the other side of the store or mall. Criminals stake out parking lots looking for easy targets.
4. Pack your patience. Holiday traffic, crowded stores and busy parking lots are all part of this busy time. Expect to have to wait and be prepared for it.
5. Always have your cell phone. Being prepared means having a cell phone with you at all times and making sure it’s fully charged. There are no 100% guarantees when it comes to crime. But being prepared will greatly reduce your chances of being victimized.

Wishing everyone a safe, happy Halloween! And for those of you in Sandy's affected areas, stay safe and we hope you have a speedy recovery!
Halloween Safety
Don’t give out candy at your front door. Opening your door to strangers (especially those in costumes and masks) isn’t safe. Sit in your driveway or on your porch and hand out candy there. This way you can see what’s going on around you. Don’t forget to keep all your doors and windows closed and locked.
Keep the lights on. Be sure your house, porch and driveway are well lit. This is for your safety and for the safety of the kids trick or treating.
Be careful with cords on the ground. The last thing you want is a lawsuit from someone who tripped over a cord you had across your lawn or driveway to those awesome Halloween decorations.
Trick or Treat safely. While you are walking your kids from house to house, please be sure your kids can be seen. Only trick or treat on well lit streets and near houses with lights on. Also be sure your kids have reflective items on their costumes so any passing car can see them. Predators can be lurking anywhere so never let your kids out of your sight! Lastly, before you go out please visit www.FamilyWatchDog.us. Check out the neighborhoods you will be visiting and be sure to know which houses you should avoid.
Candy Check – Never eat or let your kids eat any candy until you have inspected it. Unwrapped or homemade items should not be eaten and avoid anything that looks old, worn or looks like it’s been tampered with. We all know this, but it’s worth saying, watch how much candy your kids eat. Too much sugar can cause tummy aches!
