The name of our farm is “Firefly Farms & Conservation”! Official. We haven’t pulled the business license yet because the moment you do it starts the headache of monthly IRS reports and we aren’t in business….yet.
There are SO many swallowtails here! So many varieties! So lovely to see. We also have an insane amount of dragonflies. We haven’t seen many Fireflies over the beginning of summer but I’m researching how to buy them and release. Who knew there were a bazillion different tires of them!! I reached out to the extension office to see which ones to but to repopulate them here.
We are building our gift shop, building fences, clearing items left from the previous farm, still getting settled in but the new year is near.
Thank you everyone who reached out and asks me questions about butterflies. What a wonderful feeling knowing so many are contributing to supporting butterflies here in Florida.
Stay tuned…..

We managed to get the milkweed planted before it got too cold. We have also been planting bulbs as much as possible for continued nectar plants. Our goal is to have designated areas of specific host plants for about 8 butterfly species and the surrounding nectar plants to support them!

My roomie found this little chilled Monarch so we set up a sweet bar for it to possibly relax and rehab for a while. Remember that in Florida we have a non migrating population Year round. Always have milkweed and nectar plants if possible!!!

I was able to volunteer with Anastasia Island Library to teach how to raise Monarchs. I was rusty, so the next one will be better. I love knowing kids and adults will be furthering the survival of Monarchs.
Thank you to, of course, the local ACE Hardware (Hagan) for so generously providing milkweed which is always pesticide free! Love them!
Also, what a spectacular and so wonderful library. Beautiful plants, fun kids and teen sections, event room and staff that is really on it!
