Throwback to last week's meeting fun 🤣 A tradition for over 65 years! Your first club sailfish = a push off the dock 🎣 Well, we couldn't do that but we still got Frank good!!! We usually call it the Sailfish Plunge but this one was more like the Sailfish Sq**rt Attack 🔫

📣 Action Needed: Help Secure a 31-Day Recreational Atlantic Red Snapper Season in 2026‼️

Florida is continuing to fight for an Atlantic recreational red snapper season in 2026—and we need you to speak up.

Earlier this summer, just hours before Florida’s anticipated recreational Atlantic red snapper season was set to begin, a last-minute federal court ruling halted our Exempted Fishing Permit (EFP) for Atlantic red snapper state management. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has been working tirelessly since to fight for state-led management solutions that prioritize Florida anglers while ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Atlantic red snapper fishery through improved data collection.

The FWC has submitted a revised EFP to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA Fisheries), hoping the historic 2026 recreational season can proceed.

If approved, Florida’s proposal would:

✔️ Test improved, state-led recreational data collection
✔️ Provide more accurate harvest information
✔️ Strengthen long-term management decisions
✔️ Allow for a proposed 31-day Atlantic red snapper recreational season in 2026

NOAA Fisheries is now accepting public comments through Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

I support the approval of Florida’s Exempted Fishing Permit to test improved state-led data collection and management for the recreational Atlantic red snapper fishery. The Atlantic red snapper population is healthy and abundant, and recreational access should reflect current stock conditions. Florida’s proposal would improve data accuracy, strengthen accountability, and allow for a 31-day recreational season in 2026.

Please approve Florida’s EFP so anglers can benefit from better management and expanded access.

Note: All official comments must be submitted through the federal e-Rulemaking portal or by mail.
