Participants must carry a copy of the Exempted Fishing Permit (EFP) on them during their fishing trips for red snapper. You can download and print these photos or visit the site and print the PDF.

2026 Red Snapper Season Dates and Regulations

🎣 14-day open season

🎣 October 9 - 22, 2026

Participation Requirements:

Vessels for-hire must sign up for the free Atlantic For-Hire Reef Fish Registry to participate.

Private recreational anglers must have a saltwater recreational fishing license (unless exempt) and a State Reef Fish Angler designation (free).

Minimum Size Limit: No minimum size limit.

Red Snapper Bag Limit: one fish per person per day, no retention for For-Hire captain or crew.

Snapper Grouper Aggregate Bag Limit: Anglers on declared red snapper trips are required to follow the 10-fish snapper grouper aggregate bag limit outlined below.

10-fish snapper aggregate limit only applies to declared red snapper trips.

Reporting:

Anglers 16 and older MUST declare fishing trips in the web-based FWC Atlantic Red Snapper Reporting System prior to leaving the dock and are encouraged to report fishing data post-trip.

If you are a paying customer on a for-hire fishing trip, you do not need to declare a trip.

Anglers are encouraged to participate in dockside surveys and complete any surveys they receive by mail, email, text, or phone.

If a red snapper trip is not declared, regulations default to current season, bag limit, and size limit.
Anglers who do not declare a red snapper trip may not keep red snapper.

This is what it's all about 🙌 We had a blast today on the water with Brooks Rehabilitation Adaptive Sports & Recreation - Jacksonville 🎣 Everyone caught fish and, more importantly, had an amazing time on the water with GREAT company!! Thank you to Dan & Suzy (and all of the participants) for allowing the club to be part of this special day. We are STRONGER TOGETHER ❤️ 💪

ICYMI: Last night's club meeting was STRONG 💪

We had an awesome fried chicken dinner, handed out fish slips, talked about the September Club Tournaments and the fishing day with Brooks Rehab this weekend, and Jeff Stack presented on inshore fishing tactics 🎣 It was a fantastic presentation & we learned a lot 👏

Just a reminder that this Thursday at the Clubhouse, we will have Jeff Stachowiak (most know him as Jeff@battlefish on YouTube) sharing Inshore Fishing Techniques for a variety of species 🎣

We have our inaugural Brooks Adaptive Sports Fishing Day (weather permitting) this Saturday, September 19th. Come hear more about it this Thursday and maybe meet a few of our Adaptive Sports Anglers 🙌

We are looking forward to fellowship over a Fried Chicken Dinner with all of the fixins 🍗

JOSFC Family,

It is with a heavy heart that we share the sorrowful news that our JOSFC club member Douglas Dean passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

Doug could usually be found hanging out with the “Blue Heron Fishing Team,” most often with his grandchildren Finn and Rosalie nearby.

Doug’s wife Laurie asked us to share the news of his passing. Laurie said, “Doug loved the club.” He would say often, "There are just so many good people there” and “our grandkids Finn and Rosalie accompanied him to meetings as often as their schedules allowed.”

We will forward more information once the funeral services have been arranged.

Please keep Laurie, Finn, Rosalie and the rest of Doug’s family in your thoughts and prayers.

Every reef we help create means more habitat for marine life, better opportunities for anglers and divers, and an investment in the future of our offshore waters.
